I was in St. George, Utah. And ran into a problem with a place to stay,in Dec of 2007, while traveling in my motorhome. I pulled into a Flying J's truck stop for the night. A friend that was traveling with me who is
disabled and does not have the money to visit her son, who is in a speical home in ST. Goerge, Utah is diabled as well and with her living in montana has not seen her son in several years, that's why we were in St. George, so she could see her only son on Christmas.
Well in the morning we were awaken'd to some gentleman with a flyer for 5 free nights and a dinner for two, if we would just go through a 90 minute presentation. So being low on money as we were it seemed like a god send, so we went to the Western Horizon Resort in Hurricane, Utah.

Well when we went through the 90 minute presentation it seemed like our luck had changed , but we were decievedinto buying a membership, not knowing all the low down in doing so would make us destatute and take the last of our money.

I wound up having to work for our stay there, and while working for them I found out that the resorts they operate are not maintained and are run down and in need of repair . You are not able to travel to another resort because you have to make reservations 2 years in
advance if you can and you have to pay for AOR's membership to stay at any other RV park that works with Western Horizon and that's if you can get into them as well.

Their policy we found out is that you must after signing a contract, must pay a yearly fee of $375.00 for maintenance and a monthly fee for your AOR membership as well. I even put out flyer's for them, which they said I would get paid for everyone who joined $ 500.00 and $ 1,000.00 for the first person who joined that I brought in. These flyiers had my name on them as the person who invitied them, so I could get paid what they promised me, but as soon as the person came in with my flyier and
did join my flyier was found in the garbage and I never got paid.

If you can not use any of these your stuck paying anyways. The membership to Western Horizon Resorts cost over $8,000.00 dollars to join and You can not even use it, because you are not guaranteed a stay at any Western Horizon Resorts or their AOR affiliates.

Now to terminate the membership and contract, I can not use they want me to pay an additional $ 2,798.00 for a buy out. I'm now unable to pay my own bill's, let alone this. They use deceptive practices to get you to join and if you can not pay the price and fee's, they make impossible for you to terminate your membership.
They do not care if you can not use their membership or if you've lost your job and can not even pay your bill's as long as they get their money.

I say to anyone who is considering joining Western Horizon Resorts .Do Not and I mean Do Not.!!!

I am sad to hear about this unfortunate situation, but we have been members of Western Horizons for 10 years and have never visited a resort that was in disrepair.  Our home park is in Gunnison, Co and we have stayed in several of the WHR and affiliate parks in California, Texas, and Arizona.  We have never been turned away when we have needed an on- the-spot reservation, so I do not know what the 2 years in advance is all about.  The membership fees are expected in any membership organization, yet I believe that the AOR membership is optional and an add on.  Many RV'ers I know are happy about their membership, but as always, be aware of high pressure salesman and ask alot of questions until you know for sure what you are getting into.
