We want to just firstly start out by stating that 99.9% of our customers are law-abiding citizens that we recommend to online and international TEFL employers. Ashley D. Jeffers paid for one of our discounted international TEFL/TESOL certification courses in April, 2022.
She completed the course and when we issued her with the payment request for the certificate, she complained that she did not know that she had to pay for the certificate and accused us of charging hidden fees. She had zoomed through the course and didn't seem to have bothered to read any of the course or website materials in any detail.
We showed her the two places on our website where the certification fee is clearly stated, but she argued against paying it. To satisfy the customer, we decided to take on the price of the certification ourself, and we issued Ashley D. Jeffers with her TEFL certificate.
An hour later, we received a notifcation from Paypal that Ashley wanted a full refund on her course purchase. She claimed that she didn't receive what she had been promised. She received everything that she had been promised.
At this point in the timeline, we just wanted to be rid of this customer and we made a further loss by refunding the entire course fee amount back to Ashley. Ashley had now received a $199 TEFL certiifcation course and a $47 accredited TEFL certificate for free. We thought that would now surely be the end of things. It wasn't.
She had read somewhere that our company is a scam - on a blog written by one of our business competitors - and Ashley added her comment to that blog and claimed that she had never received her course refund and that our certificates are fake.
Her comment was obviously intended to damage our company reputation.
We are writing this complaint because when Ashley begins applying for teaching English work - either online or overseas - it is our hope that the school that she applies to does a thorough background check and finds this complaint.
We would not recommend Ashley D. Jeffers for any teaching English job.
