Our family, along with at least 34 others in Iowa and several in Nebraska, have been victims of a fraudulent homebuilder operating what can only be described as a Ponzi scheme. This builder collected money through bank draw requests under the pretense of completing construction work, but the work was either never started or left unfinished.

As a result, dozens of families now face mechanic’s liens on their properties despite having paid the builder in full through their construction loans. Many families have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars. The financial and emotional toll has been devastating.

In our case, the builder took significant funds without completing our home. We’ve since faced threats from our lender and have had to navigate the legal consequences of someone else’s wrongdoing. The builder has now deleted their website and shut down all communication, leaving families stranded with half-built homes and no way to recoup their losses.

This was not a mistake or a failed business—it was theft. There needs to be immediate and severe legal action to hold this company accountable and to protect others from similar fraud.

Common Sense?

AUTHOR: Irv - (United States)

POSTED: Monday, July 21, 2025

You say you may have lost significant amounts of money. Before you engaged the services of this builder, did you, for one split microsecond even think you should hire an attorney to review all the paperwork and check out this builder??? Do you think perhaps you should have used an attorney to prepare a contractual escape clause, design perhaps a performance bond agreement???? NOPE! If YOU would have used COMMON SENSE such as this to PROTECT YOUR MONEY, you wouldn't be here complaining! How about the lot this thing was to be built upon? How do you know the plot you were buying was the actual size stated and was was not encroached upon by adjacent lots? Did you PROTECT YOUR MONEY by hiring a surveyor to provide you with a survey CERTIFIED TO YOU? NOPE! I see, it was amateur night, wasn't it. Oh yes, all the papers YOU signed which are LEGALLY ENFORCEABLE IN A COURT OF LAW, did YOU read and understand them??? I see, we're supposed to feel sorry for you because you didn't have the COMMON SENSE to use professionals TO PROTECT WHAT IS YOURS and now you come here to whine. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!
