Dolphin Docks Disreputable company - bait and switch, upcharge and than scammed me of $6800 in unfinished work Edgewater FL

I'd like to share any honest experience with Dolphin Docks of Edgewater FL, it's not good. I should have realized when my neighbor said be prepared to have an open checkbook, it struck me as odd. Why would you need an open check book when someone provides you an invoice? 1st things 1st, I bought a new house that had the sea wall collapse right before closing. I got several quotes and decided to go with Dolphin docks based on neighbor recommendations. One of the owners showed up to review the work, my sea wall had broken into 4 pieces so my back yard was about to slide into the canal and the sidewalk on the side of my canal had dropped by almost 2 feet in a very short period of time. In my discussions with the owner, it was clear that they were replacing the cement wall abutting the sea wall that had BROKEN into 4 PIECES and going to repair the side walk and the sea wall.

They only accept checks, this was never mentioned once by the owners until after they had showed up to work. I took out a $50,000 credit card to pay for this which ended up being a nightmare because they dont accept credit cards and than incurred massive expense to get it liquidated which took me several months. Once they showed up and started working, it was informed to me that the quote of $38,000 did not include them actually fixing the wall that was broken into 4 pieces or fixing the stairs and original area that I showed them.

The owner conveniently left this off his original invoice. The open check book comment from my neighbor suddenly came into perspective. When the owner came out to now give me a quote on repairing the original wall which he did an upsell to show me a more expensive wall using all wood instead of just replacing it with a cement wall, it looked nice, so he prepared a new invoice which was to include the stairs. The stairs were on the original updated invoice at a cost of $6800 on top of the $38,000. Again, this was the first up charge. On the phone I asked him to send me the new invoice including the stairs in the final tally, when he sent me the new invoice, he deleted the stairs and provided a single line item to complete the wall, we had a follow up call to confirm that this included the stairs to which he said yes, it did. He also left this off his new invoice description as well.

As I mentioned, it took me months to get the money liquidated that I had originally set up because of them only accepting check. Now that they are paid in full, they are refusing to complete the stairs because the owner, conveniently didn't include that in his updated description on the last invoice he send me with the final balance due. They have left debris in my back yard, they have left a wall that has shoddy work with bowing pieces of wood on it and they have left 2 floating platforms that they originally unmoored in my canal without being reattached.

According to the owner, now that they have been paid in full, their work is 100% complete. I'm now stuck having paid $62,000 for a yard with debris, a wall that isn't fully complete and having to figure out how to remoor floating docks and come up with likely another $6,800 that these guys just ripped me off for. When they send you an invoice, be aware, they intentionally left things off so they could up charge you. Their actual employees were great. It's the owners of the company that have no moral qualm in screwing you. Consider yourself warned.
