Expedia completely failed me. I booked a car rental through them, trusting their platform to ensure a smooth experience. Instead, I was overcharged, given a dangerously defective car, and left with ZERO help from Expedia when I reported it.
Here’s What Happened:
1. They Let Avis Give Me a Death Trap:
The car I got at Avis Sarajevo Airport had a torn, defective tire that could have blown out at any moment. Even their staff saw it but still handed me the keys. Later, a gas station attendant warned me the tire was at risk of catastrophic failure. I had to completely change my travel plans while fearing for my family’s safety—including my infant child.
2. I Was Overcharged by $348.70:
Expedia confirmed my rental price as $637.32, but Avis charged me $986.02 . These charges were never disclosed, and despite multiple attempts, I still haven’t gotten a refund.
3. Expedia Did Nothing to Help:
I reported this to Expedia on October 9, 2024 and have since sent over 20 emails. Every time, I was told my case was “escalated,” but deadlines came and went with no action. They promise to “work on it,” but their “help” is all talk and no results.
4. Expedia Defends Avis, Not Customers:
Expedia refuses to hold Avis accountable. If they can’t step in when their partner gives a customer a dangerous car and overcharges them, what’s the point of booking through Expedia? They are complicit in this mess by continuing to work with Avis despite their negligence and shady practices.
Why You Should Care
Expedia let this happen:
•My family was put in danger by a defective vehicle.
•I was scammed out of $348.70 in hidden fees.
•I wasted six weeks chasing “customer service” that doesn’t care.
If you think Expedia will have your back if something goes wrong, think again. They’ll side with their shady partners and leave you stranded.
What I Want From Expedia
1.A full refund for the $348.70 overcharge.
2. Compensation for the stress and danger caused by their partner, Avis.
3.A public acknowledgment of their failure to protect customers.
Expedia Is NOT a Company You Can Trust.
They failed to protect me, my money, or my family. If you value your safety and sanity, avoid Expedia. Their partnerships and profits clearly matter more than their customers.
Don’t make the same mistake I did. Choose a company that actually stands by its promises.
