Jeffrey Dewing of Dewing Deck and Fence Company Breach of Contract, Failure to Complete Work, Work Completed is unsafe and shoddy, Unprofessional and a Liar Sanford NC

We found Mr. Dewing and his deck company on Home Advisor. He gave us an estimate to build a deck, staircase and landing over an existing stone patio, as well as replace the screen and borders of our screened-in patio for a total of $7925 ($7400-deck, etc/$525-screening).

Per the contract, emails, texts and verbal statements, Mr. Dewing stated he could complete all the work in 3 consecutive days, working 9a-4p hours. After 10 days of sporatic work, missed and/or failure to show and a final date of 01 Jun 2019 given for completion (rather than the original 3 days he agreed to), we have a deck, staircase and landing that are unsafe, with boards not tacked down, seams that do not meet or stick out, work completely missing or simply not finished.

He wanted to come back AFTER 01 Jun 2019 to complete the work but was told no because of his inability to meet the deadline and other personal factors. He was given $6700 to get the work done by that deadline then expected the remaining amount with incomplete work. Mr. Dewing breached his own contract and has left us with an unfinished and unsafe deck and screening only half replaced - - he failed to replace the bottom portion.

We gave him more than was required of us based solely on the contract - to which HE never signed nor did he give us a signed and complete copy for our records. He is a fraud who wants his money but does not want to finish the job. He is a liar and has done this same thing to many other people. We simply want our money back so we can hire a real professional to finish the job. We want people to be warned about him and his tactics. Mr. Jeffrey Dewing of Dewing Deck and Fence Company is a ripoff and waste of money, fraud and liar.
