Our 69 year-old family friend experienced a nightmare at Hotel Leonardo Vienna. After a lovely evening out, she returned to her locked hotel room only to find the door to her in-room safe wide open and her valuables gone. Distressed and barefoot, she rushed to the lobby, where the police were called immediately. Despite no forced entry to the room or safe, the hotel and its insurance have refused to cover the losses, claiming no “proof” the jewelry was brought to the hotel.

Shockingly, the hotel denied her multiple requests to view security footage, citing “privacy concerns.” This ordeal has stretched on for nearly two years with no resolution. Leonardo Hotels’ lack of accountability and refusal to assist their guests is shameful and dangerous. Tip: Always photograph valuables before using any hotel safe
