Nissan Temecula Refuses to Refund My $5,000 Deposit – Nearly 3 Years and Still Waiting!
I made a $5,000 deposit at Nissan Temecula on March 19, 2022 ($4,000 via debit card and $1,000 in cash) for a vehicle. They gave me the wrong car twice, and the final car had mechanical issues. I returned it on April 14, 2022, and they initially promised to refund my deposit.
Almost 3 years later, Nissan Temecula still refuses to refund my money. They keep changing their stance, providing inconsistent responses, and refusing to communicate in writing, insisting only on phone calls to avoid accountability.
I have repeatedly contacted Nissan North America about this issue, yet they refuse to provide any email responses and insist on phone calls, avoiding written accountability. Despite multiple reports, Nissan North America continues to ignore my concerns and refuses to address the refund issue with Nissan Temecula.
To seek accountability, I recently reported this issue to the California DMV, FTC, CFPB, California Department of Consumer Affairs, BBB, and the California Attorney General in March 2025. Yet, Nissan Temecula continues to ignore my refund request.
“Do not buy a car from Nissan Temecula! Based on my experience, they do not honor their refund commitments and deceive customers. Avoid making the mistake of purchasing from an untrustworthy dealership.”

They "gave you" the "wrong" car? You "returned it"? This isn't Wal-mart, you can't just return something you bought if you are not satisfied. I would imagine the real story is more along the lines of "voluntary repossession", which is why they are not giving you the deposit back. If you really think they owe you money, it would be a starightforward small claims court case.

Did you READ your documentation BEFORE you agreed to its Terms? Another question....have you've ever been to a store where employees put things in your bag(s) and said: "You need to pay for these items whether you want them or not?" This dealership, like many others in the Sleazy American Car Business DECLARES TO THE WORLD thru their Disclosures INTEGRITY and HONESTY are most definitely NOT in practice there! The phrase "Dealer Installed Options" means things are added to the car whether you want them or not and they STICK YOU with PRICE GOUGING AMOUNTS. This is equivalent to a store employee adding items to your bag whether you want them or not and then saying "YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS STUFF WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!" When a car dealer plays the "dealer Installed Options" CON-GAME or adds FAKE FEES, they are telling you in no uncertain terms HONESTY and INTEGRITY are not in practice there. As such, you CANNOT TRUST THAT DEALERSHIP...PERIOD as it shows they are part of the horrendous reputation of that SLEAZY business. Next time, READ what you are signing BEFORE you agree to the terms. If it was me, I would pursue every legal opportunity at my disposal and I would forget the BBB with all their PHONEY BALONY! The BBB-BS is NOT part of ANY government or law enforcement entity and has ZERO POWER to force any business to do anything. Those "ratings" businesses tout as coming from the BBB with all their BS were PURCHASED. The BBB-BS is a Pay-For-Play scam which every legitimate and honest business person is very familiar with!
