Shafer Group Harassing Scam Calls Posing as Litigation Department Internet

My family received multiple phone calls from individuals claiming to represent the “litigation department” of the Shafer Group. They threatened legal action, attempted to collect a supposed debt, and used intimidation tactics, including stating my address and referencing my family members by name.

They also made illegal threats of arrest over the phone, violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) by contacting third parties, and used spoofed numbers matching local area codes to appear legitimate.

They spoof a local area code and call family members of the targeted victim to callback number 877-647-3857. Their tactics are abusive, deceptive, and designed to coerce people into paying on zombie debts with no verification or documentation.

After confronting them, they began shutting down inbound lines, blocking legitimate callback numbers, and became abusive. They exhibited clear signs of panic when confronted with legal facts. They also appeared to be operating without a verifiable business registration, confirmed they have no law license, or debt collection license.

I am filing this report to warn others and recommend this group be flagged for further investigation and permanently listed as a high-risk fraud operation.
