I enrolled in Valerie Fahren’s Artist Development program with the hope of taking my music career to the next level. What I received, in my experience, was an unstructured, emotionally manipulative, and ultimately hollow program that cost me over $60,000—and left me with nothing to show for it but frustration and regret.
There were no formal course materials. No clear plan. No measurable milestones. Sessions often devolved into off-topic discussions rather than focusing on career-building strategies. Despite being promised “insider knowledge” and “celebrity-level” development, the only name-drops I ever heard were connected to people affiliated with Scientology—which I was never told would play a role in the program.
In fact, I wasn’t informed until the end that the final showcase—a key part of the program—would take place at the Church of Scientology. Not only was this a surprise, but before the performances began, my guests and I were shown promotional content for the Church. I found this both inappropriate and deeply misleading. Had this been disclosed upfront, I would never have enrolled.
When I voiced concerns during the program—about the direction, about the money, about my lack of progress—I was met with deflection, condescension, or outright dismissal. At one point, after expressing how hard it was for me to afford the program, I was asked, “Can’t your parents just give you more money?” That statement alone speaks volumes about the mindset behind this operation.
After completing just one underwhelming song in over a year, I was told I needed to sign up for more time—more money. The pressure to continue paying was constant, and in my opinion, emotionally exploitative. What began as an artist development journey quickly felt like a long, expensive psychological manipulation.
To make matters worse, after trying to share my honest feedback online, I found myself blocked from Valerie’s public pages, making it nearly impossible to warn others through normal channels. That’s why I’m posting this here. I want future artists to be fully informed before committing their time, trust, and money.
This is my experience. I stand by it. I only wish someone had posted something like this before I signed up
