1 And 1 Internet, 1 & 1 Internet, 1&1 Internet, 1and1 Internet, 1and1.com 1 and 1 Internet, One and One Internet, One & One Internet Fraudulent billing, refusal to cancel Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania

In February of 2009, we registered a couple of domains with 1 and 1 Internet. Having been in the marketing industry for over ten years, and knowing what kinds of rip-offs and fraudulent practices occur with some companies, we held off doing anything with the domains. We wanted to see what kinds of billing practices they used first.

What we found is that when we made payments, their online biling system refuses to acknowledge the payments and still shows the invoices being owed. That was the first red flag.

When we tried to cancel the domains, wer were given a bunch of legal double-talk, but we waded through that and followed thewir instructions to the letter. In return, we received a confirmation of the cancellation. Then the trouble started again.

We received another invoice for the cancelled service! When I complained, the form letter they sent said they could not refund domains. Duh!  I wasn't asking for refund...I only wanted to confirm that the invoice would be retracted and no more money would come out of the account! I followed up with yet another letter, to which I found today (3-15-10) that they have just withdrawn money from that account again. My only recourse is to cancel the card attached to this domain, and have to go through all the hassle of waiting up to two weeks for a new card. Also, I will instruct the bank to reverse the charges on the account.

I see from other complaint letters that it may not end there, as they may continue to harass me by going through the credit bureau. I am not waiting for that to happen. I am sending a complaint letter to Tom Corbett, the Attorney General of the State of Pennsylvania, (www.attorneygeneral.gov). They have a form online that you can download, and I suggest that anyone having problems with any company like this to file the proper complaints with the proper agencies.
