I talked to Rodney Castro of 877WaterDamage and he gave an estimate of $4825 to fix the damage caused by a broken water heater.  This estimate included replacing carpet, carpet padding, floor boards, drywall, and paint.  Rodney said that he would discount the service fee $500 if we 1) immediately gave him a $1,000 deposit 2) turned in the estimate to our insurance company for $6,000 and he would split the difference with us.  Rather than slam the door in his face, I liked the idea of getting almost $600 back from my insurance company.  This covered my deductible and put some extra cash in my pocket.  

Unfortunately, Rodney took the money and disappeared.  He has not returned any phone calls or emails.  I did a search on his name and discovered that he is a convicted felon for fraud, counterfeiting, perjury, and other charges.  He also faked a charity event and made the news:  http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid44929925001?bctid=684717237001

Then, I reviewed his website, 877WaterDamage.com and discovered most of his links do not work.

I called the police and they said it was a civil matter.

Rodney Castro / Double R Construction also have many judgments against them for ripping off people with his wife Robin Castro.

Rodney Castro is a con artist and belongs in jail!

877WaterDamage.com is a front for his latest scam.  877WaterDamage.com is not a real company.  877Waterdamage.com does not even have any repair people!  If you can, call the police on this person!
