AAA Roadside Service AKA- Triple A ripoff, Non-Responsive Misleading Used Deceptive/untruthful tactics to stick it to customer Providence Rhode Island

My car broke down and I called AAA for assistance. I told them of my situation and of the fact that it was -20degrees out and I was sick and needed help quickly. They assured me help was on the way. I called every 30 minutes for an update. Each time they assured me that the towing company was in route and will be there within 10minutes. This story continued to be told all morning and it took 4.5 hours to get assistance.

I was told the following lies in order to keep me from giving up and calling someone else for assistance:

1) The towing company was in route

2) The towing company was now on the street I was on and looking for me.

3) I could not call my own towing company and have them pay for the expense.

If I only new it was going to take so long I would have found alternative method. Instead I was promised every 30 minutes that it would only be another 10 minutes.

I later found out that would have covered the cost if I called for towing assistance with a non-affiliated tow company. They only told me that they wouldn't cover this to save them the extra money it costs them to use a non-AAA service.

After complaining they offered me a free years service and NO APPOLOGY (worth $30 - but costs them nothing). I figure they saved $45 by making me wait 4.5 hours for their AAA towing service so they come out ahead by using these deceptive tactics.
