Aaron's Sales & Lease Company Illegal UNAUTHORIZED transactions & Harassment by phone Johnstown Pennsylvania

After having a previous bad experience with renting to own, I decided to give it another try with Aaron's. I leased a bedroom suit (without boxspring/mattress) for my 18 yrs old daughter.

The people at Aaron's were a bit "pushy" at first, but, I gave them credit for trying to make the sale since that is their job. I ended up signing a rent to own lease for 12 months at $115/mo.

My delivery was to be on a Monday (the date from which I paid), however, I did not receive my merchandise until that Friday and I did NOT receive any credit for the days I had already paid for yet did not have the merchandise.

So much for "next day delivery", this should have been a warning sign of things to come.

After making 6 monthly payments ON TIME, I switched jobs and was going to have to make my payment late.

I kept in touch with Aaron's and made them aware of my situation. The gentleman said that "it was fine just make the payment when you can".

Thats when the harassment began. Not only have I received up to 8 phone calls in one day from the "automatted system" I have also received up to 7 additional phones calls from the men that work at the store.

Sometimes they will leave messages on my machine, sometimes they don't, but the caller ID does not lie.

After having 1 week of NON STOP harassing phone calls Aaron's finally took it upon themselves to debit my credit card WITHOUT any AUTHORIZATION from me or NOTIFICATION to me that they had done so.

I did not have enough funds for the entire payment, therefore, they attempted several different times until they finally found an amount that would clear. This left my account empty.

Imagine my surprise when I went to the pharmacy to pay for my son's medication and my card showed "insufficient funds for purchase". Not only was I now broke, I was embarassed and humiliated as well.

Needless to say it's Saturday evening and Aaron's is closed until Monday. I left them a message expressing my outrage at their actions.

I will keep this merchandise until the day that it is paid up to then I want nothing more to do with them. I will take the loss now to prevent further loss in the future. Lesson learned.

For a company who's motto is "we are a bearer of integrity, honesty and fairness", they have NOT proven it by me.

I plan to consult my attorney as to any legal rights that I may have due to their actions and I will pursue all available avenues to the fullest extent allowed by law. I will also be contacting the BBB of PA.

I hope that my story prevents at least one person from going through the same thing that I have.
