ABC Realty - Mary Sutherland Illegal Business Practices blackballing, discrimination, etc. ripoff Abingdon Virginia

Mary Sutherland, a realtor with ABC Realty in Abingdon, Virginia has been perfoming ILLEGAL business practices. Mrs. Sutherland, has violated the VA Fair Housing Act on numerous occasions. For example; once a single retired family were purchasing their retirement home in the fall of 2005.

Once the loan was approved and all the paperwork was done, and contracts have been signed, Mrs. Sutherland tried to make the clients change banks for a different loan. She was recieveing "kick-backs" from a particular bank, of which she was trying to force her clients to switch to. She made various threats, claiming to relist the house and put it back on the market, if the illegal "switching" didn't go through. Yes, after all the paper work was signed and waiting for the closing.

Also, the purchaser(s) of the home were living in Korea, serving our country, with the military. The family were Americans on a military base overseas, and Mrs. Sutherland did not want that type of "element" in the community, thinking they were "foreigners" and refused to sell the home in the beginning. She failed to realize the family were originally from the area in the first place. Sounds like some serious ILLEGAL blackballing to me.

Recently, the family's attorneys have been contactd and a lawsuit is currently in the making. Other civil groups have also been notified, to take part in this as well, along with the local newspaper(s).

Please, if purchasing (or selling) a home in the southwest Virginia (Tri-cities) area, DO NOT use ABC realty. What can (and should) be a pleasant home-buying experience, will turn into a horrible nightmare.
