Able Apollo Moving And Storage ripoff lost items refuse compensation Somerset New Jersey

I hired Able Apollo Moving and Storage to move me on June 1, 2006 from NJ to Md. They arrived and immediately started complaining that I had more stuff then they had been told and could they load the stuff today and unload it tomorrow. It was supposed to only be a 1 day job. I insisted on that. The driver even tried to get his boss to talk me into keeping my stuff overnight but I insisted they unload that day. They finally relented and loaded up the truck and then we had a stop to make in MD at my parents house around the corner from my new place. They took an additional 1.5 hours after I got there and we do not know why they were late.

When they arrived they complained I now had too much stuff and not all of it would fit on the truck and I had to pick and choose stuff. The driver then made sure to state that had I waited until the following morning he would have "glady" made 2 trips to get my stuff for me. They finally got to my new house and started unloading my stuff and then it started pouring rain so we had to take a break. When they finally finish it's 1:00 am or so and I notice that a lot of my stuff has been scratched or damaged.

I unpacked the next day and called the company to tell them I noticed a box of my barbies and dvds was missing, as well as my daughter's sliding board. They said to give them a few days to look for it but they never turned up anything so they referred me to their insurance company, Baker. I filed my claim with them and they sent someone out to assess the damages to my items and I was told for everything they damaged I would receive a measley $250. For the items lost/stolen I would receive nothing. I find this unfair and ridiculous! They're saying I had to notify them that items were missing before they left when there was no way of doing so because they didn't inventory 1 box.
