We bought our expensive Maytag air conditioner from Harrel’s. Now it is called AC Guys. We were told it was a very good unit and would give me years of service. I was also told it came with a 10 year parts and labor. They said I would not have any out of pocket expensives outside of my system checkups for 10 years. How could I go wrong? A unit that cost much more then anyone else’s. But, no repairs I needed to pay for ten years.

The unit stopped working in 24 hours. Bad weld joint on the unit hookup caused the gas to leak out.

Bad workmanship. Okay. They fixed it free. Then almost a year later. The unit broke again. Not covered by warranty. Huh ?

Okay. That was like $385. Should have challenged it then.

Now a year later. It has broken again. Bad fan motor. Surely that is covered by the warranty.

Nope. There goes $487 out of my pocket.

So. Their very expensive units don’t work any better then anybody’s eles’s units. And their warranty is not any good. They find a way out of it. I am locked in now. Making payments on a unit I really cannot afford to make right now. My advice to anyone getting ready to conduct business with them is to run away. If you already have a unit. Be careful. They have a price sheet they use for everything. It is priced way to high.

One more thing. If you decide to deal with AC Guys, go to Best Buy and get one of those 1 room portable air conditioners like me. Your going to need it because they never have the parts to complete the repair even though I have the main unit they are pushing to everyone. They come back the next day.

Called service number and talked to Jill. She says labor is covered only for one year. Parts are covered for ten years. And the labor to install a fan motor is $487. I told her that price is excessive and asked her to check the price again. I am also pointing out now that the original salesman was less then truthful about the warranty at the original time of sale.

Okay. Talked to Jill. Now the price is $336. That’s all labor. Again. Be careful when dealing with AC Guys if you have to deal with them at all. Tech is suppose to be out sometime today. We will see.

05/25/2017 10:00 Melany called from AC Guyz. She informed me Shawn with me here in one hour to install part.

 

05/25/2017 11:10 Tech is onsite and replaced fan motor. I was charged $336 for installation of the new motor. I think that is still excessive. But, what else can I do. We will see how long it runs now.

Hi Scott. I am not avoiding you. I have been working 12 hour shifts. And still am through the holiday weekend until Thursday. But, I did talk to a total of three people from your company while this was going on as noted.

And I usally don't answer calls from UNKNOWN. I am sure you can aunderstand that.

Anyway. I called the old Harrell's phone number for service. The invoices say Harrell's on it. I know AC Guyz bought the company.  Therefore they inherit the ten year warranty parts and labor I bought from the old company. Why they don't honor the original aggreement is what I don't understand. And I bought a year membership at the start of the year too. That's how club members are treated ?

That repair should have only cost me a service call at the very most.

I had a fan motor replaced with my previous unit a few years ago. It took 30 minutes and $250.  

I have spent a lot of money with this company. Including all new duct work.

I did not expect any repair bills for ten years. Or anything to break for at least five years. So I was okay with spending it.

I figure I am owed a refund for that last vistit which should have been only 30 minutes and not have spanned two days.

What's done is done. I am looking to not repeat my errors.  I helped my mother arrange for the replacement of her 26 year old system two weeks ago. It was $5 thousand installed. And a ten year parts and labor in writing.

I helped my son with the service of his AC last week in the house he just purchased.  We let them install the surge protector and the uv lamps in the air handler.  You guys missed out.  I like to recommend people for work.

Action AC at waters and armenia are advertising ten year parts and labor on their sign out front. I bet they honor their warranty too.

I cannot do that with AC Guyz.  But, when people ask me who installed my system, and they do ask. I steer them somewhere else.

It is true I have left three negitive reviews online. I don;t like doing that. But, I did not leave it on your facebook page. 

At this time. I am not expecting anything from AC Guyz. I probably will call my old people when I need service the next time.

First of all i want to say im sorry for what happened to you at harrell home services. We are ac guyz, a totally different company. We came out to service your ac unit. We gave you a fair diagnostic and determined the cause of your problem and fixed it. Yes, we misquoted the price but we sent Sean out,(our best service tech) to make it right. Then to our surprise you posted this blog on multiple sites. I tried to call you several times to resolve this and you refused to call me back.

If you desire a resolution, why not return my call so we can come up with a resolution. i checked on all the reviews you gave and you have not given any favorable reviews. at least Ivdidnt see any. We are a new company with honest technicians and a customer service department that wants to solve issues if they come up. We are trained to be reasonable and fair but we need that chance.
