AIG VALIC Unable to Transfer Illinois

I have been working for over a month to get my account at VALIC transferred to another investment provider.  I won't go into all the tedious details--my attempts to get help via contacting their customer service desk were fruitless.  They kept telling me I needed to go back to my former employer, my former employer kept telling me I had to contact VALIC. 

The certificate they say I need is on a third party website, but no one I spoke to had the authority to grant me access to it.  It led to another round of "you need to call this number" only to be told, "no call this other number."

The customer service staff told me whatever they had too in order to get me off the phone as quickly as possible.  At one point I was given a name and an extension to call, then I was later told that person and extension did not exist.

At this point I am furious at what appears to be a company just making the transfer process as difficult as possible so they can hold onto my money for as long as possible. Will never do business with this company again, and will advise any one and everyone to avoid this company.
