Do Not Use! Do Not Use! Do Not Use! Do Not Use! They charged me $1600 to move me 15 miles and didn't even get everything. They damaged $300 of my stuff, damaged $500 of walls and baseboards, stole my granddaughters PS4 ($400), $300 cordless drills and batteries, $700 chainsaw, and charged me for bubble wrap and tape that was very unnecessary. They also damaged the door of the climate controlled storage company and I caught them breaking some of my stuff and trying to stuff it back in a box and hide it. However, they did it all with a smile. Filed a claim and never heard back from them.

I just want to let you know that it would be very easy on moving day to have someone drive up to the truck and the movers load up what they want.  If you're at the storage facility, it would be impossible for them to load anything other than what's in your storage area.  As I said, if you saw your storage area was empty and the truck loaded up - then drove and saw the truck fully unloaded...then everything made it over.  The most common complaint ever in a local move is when someone claims something was stolen from a storage room by a mover, when it turns out later the item was never there to begin with.

One of the movers spent over an hour helping the furniture delivery man try to get some furniture in my house and I was very distracted on moving day.  The job of your movers is to move your stuff - not help the furniture delivery man.  You're paying for your move; the furniture delivery guy isn't paying your mover to help him.  If your furniture delivery man had to employ one of your movers to help, and you let him, that's on you and the furniture delivery company.  I would have called that delivery company and bitched at them.

I did not check the cab of the truck either.  This wasn't a 16 wheeler hauling your stuff with a tractor trailer with sleeper unit.  The cab of a 26 foot truck is cramped and too small to hold a chain saw, and all of the other items you claimed were stolen, along with the guys who are there to do the move.  If the truck were smaller than 26 feet, forget it.  There is simply no place to "hide" such things.  The back of the truck is the only place such things would be able to be held.  If the truck was empty, then that's that.

All I know is the merchandise was in storage and it never made it to my new home or the items were either stolen or taken from the unit before the move was initiated.  That also happens a lot.

Also the storage company they picked up from is very upset about them damaging their outside door which they have witness. I'm sure All My Son's will get a lawsuit from that.   Won't get that far.  Insurance takes care of that and both sides know it.  The storage company is just pissed because they'll lose money short term by not being able to immediately rent out that area.

Never heard from the company again. It's been 2 months since the move.  The mover isn't going to necessarily know the status of the claim you filed because they use a 3rd party.  If you call the mover, ask them for the name of the company handliing the claim and phone number.  Then phone them and see how it's going.  Having said all of that, I would review your contract.  Claims reimbursement often ends up at $0.60 per pound, unless you purchased FRV which generally wouldn't be available for a local move.  In other words, your chain saw that weighs maybe 10lbs will get you a reimbursement of $6.  Even if you claim the PS4 and the other items, you'll see maybe $25-$50 total for everything.  You also can't sue for the difference in value  because movers have special protections under the law that prevent consumers from collecting anything more than what the contract says.  I would not get your hopes up in that regard.

 In response to your rebuttal about my stolen merchandise. I just want to let you know that it would be very easy on moving day to have someone drive up to the truck and the movers load up what they want. All I know is the merchandise was in storage and it never made it to my new home. I've unpacked and moved everything. I just had to go buy new tools and a new PS4 that may granddaughter was very upset about the movers taking. Also the storage company they picked up from is very upset about them damaging their outside door which they have witness. I'm sure All My Son's will get a lawsuit from that. I'm not so upset about what was lost or broken as I am about being ignored after I let them know my issues. Never heard from the company again. It's been 2 months since the move.

They charged me $1600 to move me 15 miles and didn't even get everything.  Local moves like yours are billed hourly.  The standard rate for 2 movers is about $120 per hour with a 4 hour minimum, and 1 hour windshield time at 2X rate.  3 movers is closer to $140 per hour.  Now if you had a climate controlled storage area, depending on how big your unit was, it could have easily taken 3-4 hours at origin and 2-3 at destination to load and unload the truck and if the truck was not large enough, or the storage unit fairly substantial - yes it could have easily cost you $1600 to move 15 miles.  Possibly even more.

They damaged $300 of my stuff, damaged $500 of walls and baseboards, stole my granddaughters PS4 ($400), $300 cordless drills and batteries, $700 chainsaw, and charged me for bubble wrap and tape that was very unnecessary.  In a local move, stealing stuff like you describe is next to impossible.  Once the move is complete, you inspect the truck to make sure everything that was loaded onto the truck at origin was unloaded at destination.  In addition, you're also supposed to make sure your storage area is completely empty.  If the truck is empty and the storage area is empty, there is literally nowhere the movers can stash the stuff you claim was stolen.  It means (a) the truck wasn't empty which you're supposed to inspect, (b) it's still in the storage area at origin, (c) you haven't found it yet, or (d) it was never in the storage area to begin with.  Insofar as walls and baseboards and broken items, you can file a claim for reimbursement, however you won't receive anything close to what you want and there's nothing you can do about that.

I caught them breaking some of my stuff and trying to stuff it back in a box and hide it. However, they did it all with a smile. Filed a claim and never heard back from them.  I believe this mover uses a 3rd party to assess the claim, and they take 60-90 days to evaluate and process the claim.  You don't indicate how long it's been, but if it's been more than that, I would call the mover to ask for the number to the claim company processing your claim to check on status.

Moving companies are not inexpensive, whether you are moving locally or across the country.  The process of moving is not automated and no 2 moves are alike, therefore there is no standardization.  Being outraged over the cost of a move should never be a surprise and if you are outraged over the cost, then you should seriously consider moving yourself.  Whether you pay in the form of currency, broken items, or in the form of sweat equity, you will pay one way or the other.
