On 7-16-08 I ordered brake and exhaust components for a 1987 Volvo 240D by telephone. The phone number was listed on the the website "alloemvolvoparts.com" but when I called the number I got someone named "Earl" who said he was with "autopartswarehouse." The order total was $645.05. The order confirmation came from "autopartswarehouse.com."

The order arrived over the next few days in 2 shipments. There were 4 packing slips. Each packing slip showed a ship date of 7-17-08. One of the items I ordered was a catalytic converter, price $125.90. The catalytic converter was listed on a packing slip with one othter item, namely an exhaust system kit, but the catalytic converter was not in the shipping container with the exhaust system kit.

On 7-23-08 I called the customer service number to report the missing item. The person I spoke with asked me if the shipping container was damaged and I told him it was not. He told me he would send me an e-mail in 24-48 hours with the status on my missing catalytic converter.

When I did not receive an e-mail after 48 hours I called again on 7-25-08. I spoke with a hispanic sounding person who identified himself as "John." John again asked me about the condition of the shipping container and I again said there was no visible damage. John said he would follow up.

On 8-4-08 I again called the autopartswarehouse (800-859-0923) and spoke with another foreign sounding person who said his name was "Robert." Robert told me the catalytic converter would be shipped in 3 or 4 days.

I called the same number again on 8-7-08 and talked with someone who said his name was "Leon." Leon said he would send me an e-mail in 24-48 hours to report the progress of their "investigation" into the missing catalytic converter. I told Leon I was fine with him continuing to investigate, but in the meantime please ship me the catalytic converter. He said he would have to charger my credit card again if he did to which I responded "the hell you will."

A week later on 8-15-08 I called and talked with "Edwin." Edwin again asked me about the condition of the shipping container, and I again reported there was no damage to the package. I told Edwin they simply left the catalytic converter out of the shipment. Edwin promised that someone would call me back the same day and tell me what they would do. They never did.

Autopartswarehouse.com is a ripoff. As of 8-7-08 there were 9 other Ripoff reports on these scammers in 2008. This outfit should be investigated by the California consumer fraud agency.
