I was going to change cell phone companies because of a move. I went into o2 Wireless an Alltel dealer to talk to them about there rates. I needed at least two lines and maybe two other for my sons. I was told I could have 5 lines so I asked them about the cost. I was told the cost for the first two lines & then was told that the other two lines would be $15.00 per month & it would be a month to month contract for those two lines. I signed up knowing that the first two lines were in a two-year contract & the other two were month to month. About 6 weeks into the contract I wanted to drop two of the lines because of poor service & I was told there would be an early termination fee to cancel. I talked to the manager & told him what I was told at sign up & he said he was sorry, the salesperson that signed me up was new & didnt know all of the terms. He said he would make sure she knew the facts from hear on out I told him that wouldnt so me any good. He said he would talk to his Alltel pep & see what he could do for me. He never called me back even after I left several messages. Also, the monthly bill is much higher than I was told it would be. This is the worst cell phone experience I have had & I have had cell phones since 1996.

#3 Consumer Suggestion
Really?

Blake, BikeBrian you guys are d*cks unlike you two aparently people arn't perfect, yes some of the things you say are true but its pretty sad that you guys get your jollys by belittling little people. Who cares where people put their comment it might not be about alltel directly but to alot of people 3rd party dealer are synonomis with alltel and there really is very little distinction to most people. Now as for the complaint it is not really a valid complaint as it is the customers duty to read through any paper work they are signing. Since I work for a Alltel third party dealer i know that its would have had to say 24 months on the top right next to where it says contract term. Now this isn't 100% your fault and alltel should be able to do something for you as I have gotten them to rewrite contracts in the past due to mistakes. As I have said before people arn't perfect and they make mistakes, I'm sure you have all been new to a job and realize that with cell phones there is a lot of information to learn especially if you work in a store that has multiple carriers so mistakes like this will happen from time to time, but the sales rep should have double checked the contracts first, but they didn't so it really was up to you to catch that.
sorry for your prediciment please don't give up on alltel just because of one bad experience.

Anytime that you Upgrade or Activate a new line of service, the bill prints something to the fact of you signing up for a contract and at the end of the bill is a copy of the terms and conditions again.
Did you not see this?
I did when I got my bill after activating my parents line on my acct and upgrading my own phone.
Hmm .. I guess I just read my bills.

Take some responsibility and use some common sense

I have no sympathy for a situation like this for a few reasons:
1. Your problem is not with Alltel, but a third party reseller of equipment and services. Why complain about Alltel when they did not create this problem?
2. How coud you NOT know two lines were being created under Service Agreements? You probably paid much less than the retail price for the phones (looke at the price sticker next time), and, in that case, you were buying them under an agreement.
3. ALL cell carriers pretty much do this. You pay less than retail, you are agreeing to at least a one, if not two year service agreement. Why? Because the carrier loses money on that sale and it generally takes about that long to break even with service fees.
Sorry, but you are wrong in this one.
