I bought an Alpine air cleaner on 5/3/17, it arrived at my home on 5/11/17. On 7/12/17, I emailed Alpine that there was surely something wrong with my unit as I did not smell the ozone no matter how high I turned the knobs.
Having checked their website which said the ozone smell was not as prevalent in the newer machine's, I thought, ok, not gonna smell it as much. However, I still did not think it was working right so I emailed the company on 7/12/17. I then got a call from their rep who had me turn the knobs off, then back on and he said, "no, it is not working". I had to pay nearly 50.00 to send it back ups.
I have now gotten e-mails that the unit is cracked, the plates are rusty, the plates are brown (pictures included) the filter is dirty and that the unit seemed to be in a smoke environment causing the smell to settle in the plates and filter.
Why does anyone buy an air cleaner..to clean the air of smells! So, would this cleaner pick up and tear up because of a smell...even if it is tobacco or any other kind of smell? Duh!
This unit cost me $355.77 which was after a $50.00 discount.
There is a year warranty on the unit. However, it looks like the company is blaming everything on UPS. They want me to file a claim and say UPS will buy me a new one. To me that is fraud on UPS. Yes, the unit was somehow cracked, however, the unit did not work or it would never have been in UPS hands to start with.
My options from Alpine are..they will send it back as is,
I can buy new plates and filters (which will not fix the ozone problem, they are completely ignoring that)
I can file a claim against UPS, or they will but it will take longer.
I have been ripped off by Alpine and will not accept anything other than a new unit which is what I paid
for.

Need to apoligize....

This report was written on the wrong company. I am so sorry and wish I could delete it. The Alpine Technoligy company I was writing about is in California. I sincerely apoligize for my mistake and do not wish this company to have any bad feedback from this report. Thank you.
After much debate and discussion, the company in California has replaced the filter and plates on my machine and they say it is working, they will ship it to me this week. I certainly hope it is working or we will just have to go this route again.
