I, too, was called by 1st Credit of Am. wanting to settle my 2 year old delinquent bill of $565 for calls to a porn site (handled by alyon tech.) made in Nov. 2002. From other postings this was a popular month! They would "settle" for only $300 plus!
In any case the number was correct but she had no billing address nor would I give her one.
Of interest I use DSL but have a modem that's rarely used. Also use a firewall that would / should have detected if there was an out-going connection. Alyon's faq claims is someone would have to had clicked on the dialer and agreed to their online acceptance. No way!
I believe this same person called yesterday asking for a person that has never lived at this address. She then wanted to talk to the "owner" of the phone. I only respond to the first request. Today it was can I talk to Mr. or Mrs...
Will be following the progress of this ripoff.

As follow up, with the many complaints concerning these companies, what action have they taken when you've resisted giving them further info. In my case they don't have a billing address, only a phone number. Of course I never got a bill from them for a charge that susposedly (but didn't) happened 2 yrs. ago.

Don, that was last year's phone dialer con.

The company you named was listed in Jersey and Georgia.

This year the big winner is called National one. The collection agent is collection express.

This new outfit has been going since the beginning of the year.

They are listed in Texas and N.hampshire. The company is listed to a mike and steve. Not their real names, of course.

People are working to find the read identities. As soon as they do, they'll be posted here, and on other fraud sites. Names, addresses, pictures.

The whole works!

Nothing ever is turned over to credit agencies. So, if you are sure the bill is invalid, ignore it.
