A couple of days ago, I received a call, like many I've read on this site, and was informed that I had been entered in some sort of sweepstakes by MY bank because of my Visa debit card. I listened to the speel and was informed that I would be receiving a 48 month deal of magazines that I could change every month or so and, of course, the diamond-studded watch. It sounded like a good deal at only $4.80 a week (apparently their fraud cost has gone up). I received a another call shortly thereafter because the person I had spoke with at first was "new."

I was then informed that I would only be paying $20 some odd a month for this service, totaling $81+change. I mistakenling agreed. Later that evening, I got one last call, the confirmation, and at that point was informed that I had agreed to the $81+change a month. The caller's tune changed and he asked me some questions about if I could afoord this, to which I said no. He knew some info about me that was not put anywhere except my own private site and my bank, such as my college student status.

I'm sharing this with info with people on this site because I did not inform them of that fact, THEY KNEW. Knda feaked me out, but as I said previously, they said my entering their sweepstakes was on behalf of the bank. Anyway, the man told me that instead of the 48 month deal, that it would be changed to a 1 year plan at a $99 onetime payment. Again, I agreed.

I talked to my significant other later that evening, and he suggested that I call my bank and inform them that I had been duped. My bank put a hold on my card, and after I am able to get there I will have to sign to get a new one (I am currently snowed in and can't get there). My significant other and I are in the process of remedying this issue by following the suggestions from this site.

I am in my early 20's and was not aware of what was happening until it was too late. My hope is that this will help others my age that run the risk of having the same thing happening to them.
