I have written several letters complaining about this company to Ameritel and Roy Goodman, the National Business Opportunities Bureau, and Chamber of Commerce of Clearwater.

The reason that I write is to complain about the deceiving practice that this company is practicing in. My goal is not only to get compensation on the seven (7) payphones that I purchased in the amount of $10,050 + tax.

The company's initial claim was that these pay phones would be making a minimum of $300 per phone per month. My phones (the two that I was able to afford after being blasted with so many extra charges and licenses) are generating a mere $40 per phone per month. The company verbally misrepresented something that they knew could not happen.

Ameritel and Roy Goodman know that they are violating code of the Federal Trade Commission. Through much research I have found several FTC complaints and motions filed against the company and Mr. Goodman. The following is one such complaint:

(Reference: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/franchise/1999-2000cases.htm)
FTC v. Ameritel Payphone Distributors, Inc., et al., Civ. No. 00-0514 (S.D. Fla.), filed Feb. 7, 2000.

The Commission's complaint alleges that Ameritel Payphone Distributors, Inc. and Roy B. Goodman violated Section 5 of the FTC Act in selling payphone vending opportunities by misrepresenting:
(1)how much purchasers can earn; and (2) that purchasers will receive "prime" profitable locations. In addition, the complaint alleges that the defendants violated the Franchise Rule by failing to provide potential purchasers with:

(1) a complete basic disclosure document;

(2) an earnings claim document substantiating their oral and written claims; and

(3) advertising disclosures of the number and percent of prior purchasers making as much as the "$200k yr pot'l" advertised.

In closing, I would like to say that the hard earned money spent on this phony business is destroying my family's income. I am sure that there are many others that feel the same way as well. As a "wanna-be" entrepreneur I feel totally humiliated by this. However, I will not cease to continue to seek compensation until I am fully satisfied. Please note the Federal Trade Commission's website (http://www.ftc.gov) and search Ameritel for its phony practices.

This company must be stopped!!!
