AMTC Michael Turney Agency scam, thief, liar ..bad plastic.surgery Dallas, Texas

I am the Agency Director for the Michael Turney Agency. The "Michael Turney Agency is a SCAM"commentary by ANONYMOUS, is inaccurate. 

Allow me to address her concerns, since she didn't put her name on her complaint. 

"Years ago, my daughter was "selected" to participate in AMTC, actors,.models tallent competition...so you get excited.they were the."selected call backs ," ,well..everyone gets called back, they.just put you on different dates,.so you.dont notice."

This is untrue. We perhaps call back 4 out of 15 audition hopefuls.

"At the competition,your kid competes but then you pay to be able to go to the awards show, to see if you win anything..."

And how is this Michael Turney's fault? Those are the rules & regulations of the AMTC organization. Mr. Turney has no say-so on their policies. To blame him for it, is irresponsible & misleading...and unfair.

"Oh not to mention competition is never in town where you live."

This is untrue. We have had Showcase Reviews here in Shreveport for many years. They are held at the Strand Theatre in downtown Shreveport. There is an option of going to Orlando, but certainly it isn't the only program available. 95% of our clients/students prefer to participate in the Shreveport revue. It's copiously illustrated on our website.

"It was at Disneyworld, and your 4000k, that you pay them, didn't include park pass."

Well, that's because you aren't going to Florida in order to hug Micky Mouse & play. You are there for an intense week of exhausting auditioning in front of national agents. If you want to plan a pleasure trip to DisneyWorld, that's a conflict of interest with NETWORKING. 

"They say they will represent and help after show, never heard from them again,.messages went unreturned.
Scammers."

We answer each and every piece of corrospondence. I am answering this, aren't I?

As for the "bad plastic surgery" comment, as well as choosing to remain anonymous, you have just let me know that you have a case of "sour grapes" because your kid didn't impress anyone in Orlando. Your lugubrious vocabulary skills are also alarming & illustrate your own death of intellect.

Now, for anyone who is interested in learning what we do... allow me to extrapolate on what we offer here. If someone wishes to become a model, that person will require training in order to become one.

Tyra Banks said something rather misleading a few years ago. She said, “You should NEVER have to pay to work for an agency. They should pay you.” Well, what she meant was SECONDARY MARKETS. If someone walks into a Dallas, Atlanta, NYC, etc. agency, then that statement is absolutely true. However, those people have ALREADY BEEN TRAINED by a regional agency like ours.

Any agency who "promises" you work --verbally or included in a contract--is automatically fabricating what they can legitimately promise and therefore, is not to be trusted. We have no idea who will be calling us tomorrow --or next month--for gigs and what specs that would include.. There are a lot of scam agencies out there & we have to be extra-careful, as a result. We have been in business for 25 years & have a A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Scam agencies--especially in such a small town such as Shreveport--would fold immediately. Our line of work is a bit harder than most because scam agencies ' reputations malign the reputable ones. 

While we do not promise work, we promise that our clients will be prepared to be in front of national agents at the end of the year’s training sessions...that's how the model ends up landing the Maybelline commercial, etc. Models also need marketing materials. They need comp cards. They need actor head cards. If someone fits the role for a part in a movie & we send that person out...and the director says, "slate your mark" and they don't know what that cue means, then we all look bad. We look bad for sending out someone who isn't educated on acting cues & the client looks bad because he showed up for a professional gig, unprepared and unprofessional. 

Let's replace modeling with, say, wanting to become a concert pianist. You notice the kid has raw talent. The next step is to get the child into lessons & then that child would have to practice, in order to become good. They would be lessons you would PAY FOR. Once the child has completed training, she isn't guaranteed a scholarship to Juilliard, nor is she guaranteed a job playing for the Philharmonic. Too, someone who wants to be a nurse, goes to nursing school, pays for training; they won’t just let you start putting IVs in people’s arms because it is a “dream of yours”.  Modeling is no different.

After training with us, 4 of our models were offered contracts with CLICK  MODELS out of Atlanta, some were offered contracts with ELITE and 2 others went with JOY PERVIS (who discovered Dakota Fanning & Raven Simone).  When that happens, we feel good. We cut them loose (as we have done our job & that is to train them for larger markets) we wish them well & they send us updates on their progress. 

One of our students, whom we trained last year, just finished auditioning for an Abercrombie & Fitch commercial & is under contract with CLICK. She is a muse for a fashion website & makes a living as a working model.  Last year, she was playing volleyball in a small town of 3,000 people. 

We did that. We created that opportunity for her because she practiced hard, she listened to us, she attended classes & she can now say she is a professional, instead of just "wanting" to be a model. She has the career she wants because of us. 

Our job isn't just to promote our models, but also to protect them. If one of our girls is approached in a mall by a man saying, "I would love to take photographs of you" ...if she isn't signed with an agency, she may unwittingly put herself in a dangerous position, by blindly going over to the man's house because his flattery on her beauty & his ability to take pictures of her. If she is signed with us, she says, "Go through my agency". If the guy is a creep, we won't hear from him & we just saved her from perhaps, being harmed or taken advantage of. If he is reputable, we'll know him.
