Please beware, My name is Jessica and i am a professional model out of New York City. i ask of you to beware of the modeling agency called Amanda's Models and Talent located in the big city of Valdosta GA. They seem like just a sweet little local modeling agency however when you go in to look for work they then try and SELL you expensive modeling classes that you don't need. If they were really interested in representing you then you shouldn't have to pay them a dime. The reason i am so upset with them is that I also have a friend who got scammed by them. The classes were one thing but then they told her she was "excepted" and that she had to attend the AMTC convention and the cost of this was well over $2000 to go to it. PLEASE i beg you do not get scammed by this Mrs, AMANDA and pay her $2000 to go to this waiste of time modeling school. She claims to work with top agency's but really the only thing she does is charge people thousands of dollars to meet these agencies at a convention. If you really want to get in to the film and fashion industry you need to go to your closest big city and meet the agent in person at their office. How much work could there really be in the big town of Valdosta, GA???? Please don't be that stupid. If they were really interested in you then you shouldn't have to pay the agency a single dollar.

Amanda's Models is a scam.

AUTHOR: AnonValdosta - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, August 12, 2012

I was with Amanda's Models and Talent for around two years and got nothing out of it. I'm actually a bit embarrassed that I spent money on her "talent agency" for that long. She does NOT ever represent you when it comes to casting calls unless you pay for her "acting lessons." If she rebuttals this and says she does, she is totally lying, she told me point blank that if I didn't continue acting lessons, she wouldn't represent me or let me be a part of her "fashion shows." Her casting calls are only hand-me downs from J. Perivs Talent which, I don't even if she still has a relationship with her, but is the only legit person Ms. Amanda is or was connected to. Also because they are hand-me downs there are only 2 a year, probably not even that much.

Do not go there or pay for her outrageously priced "acting lessons" where you learn nothing. Also she takes "photo shoots" for stores and makes models pay for them.

She is only after your money and is a complete waste of time if you want to get anywhere in the modeling or acting world.
Also the idea she doesn't have a high turnover rate is wrong. She has a very high turnover rate. From when I started from when I left there were maybe only 5 of the same people. Plus, one of her most loved and adored children(that she actually still has on her website last time I checked because this child was good, and was represented by another, bigger, legit, modeling agency) HATES Ms. Amanda and her mother hates her even more. Ms. Amanda is not just a scam business but also a horrible friend to people who used to always defend her.

DO NOT go there, you will be sorry if you do.

Amanda's Models - Good Company

AUTHOR: Jennifer S - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, April 14, 2010

My child has been with AM&T for 3+ years now, and as Amanda said in her reply we are among a large percentage of students and staff members that have been with her a long time.  There is little turnover at the studio, which is uncommon, and says a lot for her business.

She offers classes, and serves as an agent, Mother Agent I believe is how she describes it.  Some students only take classes for modeling or pageantry, some take acting classes, some are there for what she terms personal development - which I believe is mainly to build confidence, which she does and showcases those students regularly in local fashion shows and performances.  Those are paid classes, like a dance school.

AMTC was never a requirement, nor was it pushed on us or others.  It was another outlet for children wanting to go further, and be seen by "big" agents and she only served to prepare them for the event and went to support them, which was an expense to her.  Her students that chose to go were prepared, they stood out and she was recognized for that and asked to serve as a regional manager of sorts, I don't know her official title.  This had nothing to do with AM&T,just something she did in addition to offer more to her students who choose this.  AMTC is no longer affiliated with AM&T, but if a student wanted to go today I feel confident in saying she would ensure they were well prepared.

Classes are not required. However she will not represent (send on castings) a child/teen/adult she feels is not prepared.

I think some people mistake this a requirement to take classes, it is not.  It is ensuring her reputation, so those doing the casting know she only sends them people who are able to handle the "job".  This is simply good business.  It benefits everyone as she is asked more and more to send submissions because she has established a good reputation among agents and companies in the business.

No cost is associated with her representing you.  You will need comp cards/headshots or a portfolio, but that is something you would need wherever you went.  Not specifically for her.  I also want to mention she does her best to find the best prices for these services that are good quality and used by top agencies.  She looks out for her students.

I am sorry you or your friend, it is unclear to me, had a bad experience.  I assure you from this parent's perspective that is not common, and it seems there is more to this story.

This has been written by a parent of a student, I am not in this business, nor was I asked to write this.  I think this is a great site, but should not be used for personal vengeance or because you did not get desired results.  Results in this business are not guaranteed.  Amanda does everything possible to ensure you know that up front and she and her staff do an amazing job.

For the person claiming abuse - that is ridiculous.  There are always staff and a lot of parents in the studio.  The staff are wonderful and caring individuals and I feel fortunate to have them work with my child each week.  They go so far as to come to plays, sorting activities and other events their students are in to show support - how many places do that?

This is a great organization.

Candy and Audrey Powell...utterly false.

AUTHOR: AM&T - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, April 02, 2010
We ended our business relationship with Candy and Audrey Powell on November 15th, 2008. We wish them both nothing but the best. Since this is defamation, I will now handle this in court. I am thankful that I do have all correspondence on email concerning Mrs. Powell, and her lovely daughter, Audrey.

For those of you who are just reading this trying to learn about AM&T, please feel free to call us. (229) 245-1224. We have never abused children. My husband is a Lt. with the Valdosta Police Department. AM&T has been in business for nine years and we have a very low turnover rate. Some of our first models and actors are still very active with us from nine years ago. We love all of our models and actors. We occasionally discover we have a stage parent, and we immediately part ways amicably.

I will continue to pray for people who enjoy attempting to ruin the reputation of others...especially on Good Friday.

Defamation, sometimes called "defamation of character", is spoken or written words that falsely and negatively reflect on a living person's reputation.

If a person or the news media says or writes something about you that is understood to lower your reputation, or that keeps people from associating with you, defamation has occurred. Slander and libel are two forms of defamation.

If you have been defamed you may seek both actual damages, to recover the harm that you have suffered, and punitive damages to punish the person who made the remark (and serve as an example to deter others).

If the defamation improperly accused you of a crime or reflected on your profession, the Court or jury can assess the damages.

Many thanks,
Amanda Kirk

The Truth

AUTHOR: AM&T - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 25, 2009

Hi Jessica S...and Rip Off Report

We are NOT affiliated with AMTC and have not been affiliated with AMTC since January 2009.

We do not require classes to be represented by our agency.

AM&T (Amanda's Models & Talent) is a full service modeling and talent MOTHER agency as well as a TRAINING FACILITY.

We do offer classes and we do not require you to sign a contract or pay up front for any type of classes. Our classes are $75 per month for private lessons and and $85 for group lessons. If you wish to take our modeling, acting and personal development classes, they are offered just as dance classes are offered at a dance studio and gymnastic classes are offered at the gym, and piano lessons are offered at a music studio. Modeling, Acting and Personal Development Classes are part of our Training Facility.

Our agency is completely different and totally separate from our training facility. We are a Mother Agency as Valdosta is entirely too small to host a major market modeling and talent agency. We do have several direct local bookings throughout the year however, the majority of our bookings do come from major agencies in major markets such as Atlanta, Miami, Orlando, NYC and occasionally LA.

We do have models and actors working in Asia, NYC, Atlanta, Miami, LA, and Orlando.

You are right! You should never pay one dime to be represented with the exception of pictures if you need to build your book, occasionally a website fee, and you will always pay for marketing materials such as comp cards or headshots. As a professional model in NYC, I am sure you are aware of these charges to your account with your "agency", correct? There are also services such as messenger services and apartment rent and advances that will also be charged to your account, but again, that is in a major market, as our friend Jessica here works for in NYC.

If you have ANY questions, please feel free to call or email me anytime! (229) 245-1224 or amandasmodels@mac.com

Again, we are NOT affiliated with AMTC. I do think this Rip Off Report is bogus from Jessica as it follows entirely too closely with a complaint I made recently about a traveling SCAM arriving in Valdosta this weekend. If this was a true complaint from Jessica, she would know AMTC now charges $3495 to attend their event, and it has not been $2000 for many years.

Also, Jessica seems a bit young or maybe her home schooling is not working out for her as her spelling and grammar could use a bit of work. Alpharetta, GA is approximately four hours from Valdosta, GA. We would never offer her representation. She is too far from us, and too close to a major market.

This Rip Off Report is completely unwarranted and completely bogus.

Have a blessed day!

Amanda Kirk
