I'm sooooo mad!
This is my situation right now. I was recently in an auto accident. The other driver was at fault (the police report confirmed it) and Mercury (his insurance) is refusing to pay for my damages. I am out of money right now because, of my deductible and medical expenses. Depressing, right?
Two days ago, I received a letter in the mail stating that I'm a confirmed winner of $1,000,000! At first, I got this rush of excitement. Then, I internalized it because, I remembered the old saying, "If it's too good to be true, it probably is." But! I was praying it was genuine. Two weeks prior to receiving this letter, I called Publishers Clearing House and confirmed my number for award consideration. I thought it was from them. I believe it's corallated.
Anyway, I read further and discovered not only was it another company, they also wanted me to give them $19.95. HAH! This is a total scam! And, I'm pissed that the tiny disclaimer on the back of the letter was in watermark light gray ink! It stated this is not a guaranteed winning.
NOW TELL ME...WHAT ELDERLY PERSON CAN READ THAT? I AM AN OPTICIAN APPRENTICE. THE LAST TWO YEARS I'VE HELPED THE ELDERLY WITH THEIR GLASSES. THESE POOR PEOPLE CANT SEE ANYTHING WITH THEIR CATARACTS, PRESBYOPIA, MACULAR DEGENERATION, DIABETES, AND PLAIN OLD AGE. THESE POOR FOLKS WON'T BE ABLE TO READ THAT!
I'M OUTRAGED!
MY GRANDMA WOULD TOTALLY FALL FOR THIS CRAP. SHE ISN'T COMPUTER SAVEY. SHE DOESN'T HAVE THE LUXURY OF READING RIPOFF REPORT!
Yesterday, I received another letter with the same crap. It looked different and stated I had to give them $11.89 this time. THE "FINANCIAL DISPOSITION MNGR JAMES MALLORY" is the only name given in the letter. For all I know he's a telemarketer.
This letter has NO CONTACT INFO and a PO BOX for an address.
