Around the Table DO NOT buy a table from Jay at Around the Table Mauldin South Carolina

We purchased a farmhouse table with a bench and 5 chairs from Jay at "Around the Table" on February 10, 2015 and placed a 50% deposit for the amount of $927.50. We were told at that time that we would receive our table within 12-14 days. On February 27th we received an email letting us know that everything would be ready by the following Friday, March 6th. We agreed to the delivery date and time. 

On Friday, March 6th we texted Jay to make sure we were still on schedule for delivery that day and received a response saying "We are running slightly behind schedule. Your table set will be ready next week". After receiving no further explanation, despite multiple attempts to contact Jay, we finally received a call the following Monday, March 9th, telling us delivery would be Friday, March 13th from 10-12. We waited around all day Friday, 12:00 passed and we'd received no contact from Jay. At 2:30pm we finally received a call telling us that he was in North Carolina and was delayed because “he was stiffed on a payment by another client”. He said he would be delivering everything that night. I asked him point blank if we would have our table that evening and he said “yes”.

The evening passed and again, no table to show for it. We did not receive any response to multiple calls and texts. I eventually left Jay a voicemail late that evening saying that we had to receive our items by the next morning, March 14th. 

Today is March 14th and again, despite multiple calls, voicemails, texts and emails, we’ve not heard from Jay. After looking online, I can now see that several complaints had been filed against Jay in the past (links below). I just wish I would’ve seen these beforehand to avoid this situation altogether.

I’ve left an email, voicemail, text & Facebook message for Jay letting him know I would be filing a complaint with the BBB at 10am if I had not heard from him. 10am has passed, no contact was made and the report has now been filed. I've also filed a report with my credit card company. 

I've always try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I guess I learned my lesson the hard way. I'll be doing better research the next time I buy something from an unknown source, even a local one. Beyond frustrated.
