Land use and permit to use installation of cable tv

Whom ever the company was at the time of installation is not the same now

AT&T are the owners now

Improper installation of cable

Land was appropreated for said purpose as easement cable box was installed on the wrong property and the installation was installed outside the easement line on privite property

I the property owner where the cable box was installed would like to have it removed and put in the yard of the people it services

It does not service me in any way

At time of installation I asked the company representitive that was here at that time why it could not be instaled on the property that it was to service

I was told by him that the box was going to stay where they put it and that I could not do one thing about it.

Another rep came out because the first one got fired because of what he told me.

I asked her the same questions and the answer I got was quite defferent she said that the boxes had to be a certain number of feet apart

So I asked her what difference that made as some of the boxes are 180 feet apart and some are over a 1000 feet apart she could not answer that one

All I want is to have the box removed from my property and put where it belongs

I am thinking of a lawsuit if nothing else can be aranged to get it removed. Besides it was installed on the property without my permission and not on the easement that was apropriated for that purpose

possesion is nine points of the law right?

Then I own said cable box right?

The city of Maple Grove argrees with me

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Easement rights

AUTHOR: mike - ()

POSTED: Monday, June 10, 2002

To frustrated property owner,Ok first of all I am an ex-employee with lots of experiance with AT&T,I used to be a technician who resolved issues just like yours. There is a lack of info in your comments about "The Box" .The main thing that needs to be understood is that its not that easy to just move a box. What kind of box? Is it a pedestal or a big box like a doghouse etc etc. There maybe fiber optics running inside that box which is very delicate and cant just be moved very easily because the fact is that it could be feeding hundreds of people down the line.

I would say that you have every right to be frustrated with the company and theyre apparent lack of action. What really needed to happen was for a representitive from the engineering department to come out and answer your questions.I dont know who you were talking to but if they couldnt explain why there were differences in footages between boxes then they didnt have a clue about cable at all.

The reason for distances and differences is because of signal strength and how it flows as well as placement of equipment and where it is in relation to any underground equipment or utilities such as sewer ,power, telephone, gas lines etc etc.

These questions could have been answered to your satisfaction with out going into a long story on electronic theory or engineering.

The bottom line is that they should address your concerns as if they were theyre own. The company has a modo which is the customer comes first and first contact resolution.

I would suggest that you try again and have someone from the engineering dept come out and make sure that they explain it to you clearly and if that doesnt work other local authorities would have to bring some pressure to at&t.

If the box is definatly on your property and they refuse to do anything about it.They will be forced to pay you rent for the use of that space.I hope this info helps. In closing I would agree that there are definatly problems with the company but just remember that there are good people working for the company as well and that some really do theyre job as best they can.

My personal experiance was a bit frustarating because I couldnt always do my job because of a lot of red tape and old procedures which took up too much time and left the customer in the cold way to often for my tast.
Well good luck .
