AvalonBay Communities, Inc Unauthorized debit of resident's account and subsequent unwarranted fines Arlington Virginia

On September 3rd a payment was made online to AvalonBay. It was then immediately retracted via an online form, subject Billing, provided by AvalonBay. A second payment, which was stated would be made, was sent. Due to a lack of response and action from AvalonBay, both payments were processed and thus returned. Fines were then placed on the account as was a lock. AvalonBay is now refusing to remove fines or lock, even though the statement made not to debit the account was placed before it was retracted from the account. A complaint has been filed with the bank against AvalonBay and AvalonBay is no longer authorized to retract any money from the account, as the bank has found AvalonBay to be negligent.

This is not only bordering on illegal, but also is completely irresonsible. These actions and lack of action or accountability is representative of mismanagement, an understaffed customer service department and a lack of knowledge of public relations. Responses to any e-mails or online forms take about a week, completely unacceptable in this day and age and in any normal business transactions; however, AvalonBay is not accepting or acknowledging fault or the absurdity of the response time.
