I have never had a problem with unauthorized withdrawals from my bank account, until I signed up with Bank of America. I didn't realize that Bank of America was to blame, until I did some extensive research the first time I found problems with unauthorized withdrawals.
The first time was when a company called Trial Giant (TLG-Great Fun) started taking out $11.99 per month out of my bank, which I did not in any way authorize. Not only did they take money out of my account without my permission, but they put my account in the negative. I began my research on this company by putting the name they used in my bank statement into a search engine. I found a wealth of information/complaints against this company. While I researched TLG, I also found that Bank of America was sued for a certain insurance scam as well. A red flag went up in my head at that point, as I had a Bank of America account, which by the way, was a new one; I had never opened an account with them for various reasons.
My son is in the Army, and spends much of his time in Iraq. He, too, has a Bank of America account. His mail comes to our home; I read it and decide if anything needs taking care of. One day, I get a "check" for $10, which the Bank of America's name is on. In fine print, it says "If you deposit this check, you are authorizing us to take $11.99 out of your bank account every month." Now, that check was so authentic looking, I almost deposited it myself for my son, but didn't...thank goodness. Well, they took out the money anyway. Keep in mind my son is putting his life on the line every day for our country, and while he's doing that, Bank of America and TLG is trying to rob him blind. Also during my research, I find that if you purchase things online, these companies cleverly steal your money. Some purchases you have to watch are Fandango, Orbitz, and Flowers.com I can only mention those, because there was a local investigative report on the news that covered this same story.
Last but not least, I just checked my bank account tonight, and find that a company called Intelius just started taking money out of my account without my authorization once again. I needed to do a reverse phone lookup, and by the way, put the word FREE in my search. Well, it appears that it wasn't free, however, I was never notified that there would be a charge. I still have no idea how they could get my bank account!!! I still have to figure that one out.
