We ordered Durant size 8.5 basketball shoes from basketballshoesusa.com. Instead, they sent us LeBron size 8 basketball shoes. When we contacted them, we got email after email in broken English, the result of which was that they wanted me to send them more money before they sent the correct shoes.
Imagine - they send the wrong product, and when I asked for the right product, they asked for more money. I offered to return them the wrong shoes; all they need to do is send me a prepaid box and I'd mail them back. But all they want is more money. Like I would trust them? No American company would treat a customer this way. They just figure they can get away with it because they're in China.

That's exactly how they can get away with it, unless you used a credit card for the purchase. If you did, you can dispute the charge.

No they didn't. They sent you shoddy counterfeit shoes. Chinese apparel websites deal almost exclusively in counterfeits. It's one of their major industries.
When dealing with a website you've never dealt with before, it is often useful to perform an Internet WHOIS search on the site. If the site is Chinese, move on. For example, I ran a WHOIS search on the site you posted about. Here is the result :
