Matthew Sylvan Greenstein of Bernick Lifson, PA filed a lawsuit after being notified that debt was discharged in a bankruptcy - in my opinion AVOID!!!

Matthew represents a homeowners association for a condo complex called Ridgeview in Burnsville, MN where we used to own a condo.

We gave the property up when it was discharged in a chapter 7 bankruptcy almost 2 years ago and the property went in sheriff sale a year ago with immediate possession as it was vacant.

The Matthew sent us a letter in February 2016 saying that we owed approximately $7,000.00 in unpaid association dues. I notified the attorney by email to consult with him that he was trying to collect on a debt discharged in a bankruptcy on a property that we do not own.

Instead of looking into the bankruptcy and foreclosure or even having the professionalism to respond to the email, Matthew Sylvan Greenstein of Bernick Lifson, PA filed a lawsuit against us in the amount of $10,000 plus attorney fee (a suddenly higher number).

It is illegal and dishonest to collect on a debt that is discharged in a bankruptcy.

In my opinion, Matthew Sylvan Greenstein clearly shows a lack of ethics, a  lack of professionalism and the firm of Bernick Lifson PA a lack of integrity in not following up when promised.  Thankfully my husband recorded the telephone call with Matthew Sylvan Greenstein's father where he implied that Ridgeview didn't necessarily follow the rules and assuring that he would look into this to get the best resolution.  It is available to anyone who would like to listen to it as long as they promise to publish it or pass it along.

UPDATE: I spoke with Matthew's father Dan Greenstein a week ago and was assured that I would hear back today with some clarity in this matter.  Instead, we got served AGAIN by Matthew Sylvan Greenstein today with an even HIGHER number!  Mind you, we have the bill from no less than 2 months ago where he is trying to collect THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS LESS!  

We are now going to Ripoff Report, the Better Business Bureau, the MN Attorney General, The Lawyers Board of accountability and the Department of Commerce... As well as any news channel who will listen.  These predatory actions deserve to be brought into the light.
