I've been through more than a year of hell with this company and it's not over yet. When I first signed up they had a great monthly rate on a reseller account and I was stupid enough to fall for it. I soon realized that regular outages would be an ongoing part of their service, so I signed up with another host and moved my critical sites to them. Unfortunately, I still have critical business email accounts with these guys and as we speak I've been unable to load my cpanel for over a week!

BGSA Web Hosting Services offers a 99.9% uptime guarantee but I'd estimate my uptime has been between 80 and 90%. This really sucks when email is your main method of communication with clients. Of course the sites that I am still hosting with them are also down at the same time.

To make matters worse, BGSA has servers in the USA (I use one that's in Seattle), but their corporate office is in the Phillipines. This means that their business hours are completely opposite mine so when I need help they're never available. In fact, I always have to wait a full day to get a response and the only way to contact them is by opening a support ticket. When they do reply, they usually respond with questions or excuses which creates another 24 hour delay before their next reply.

Hardly a month goes by without something going wrong with my account. Either my webmail is rejected because of suspected malware or spamming activity (so much for secure hosting servers), or I stop receiving email to a previously working account and never recover the weeks of messages that I didn't get (this happened once), or the server goes down completely (sometimes for weeks at a time)!

This is the kind of hosting that should earn its providers a trip to the federal pen (or maybe Gitmo), but these guys consistently play dumb and act like they've done nothing wrong. I've been with Hostmonster and several other web hosts in the past, and present, and my experience has been almost entirely positive.

To be honest I wouldn't even believe that a host could be this bad if I hadn't experienced it for myself. That's what I get for being a cheap-a*s and trying to save a little money. Don't let this happen to you! In the immortal words of Monty Python, if you come across an ad for BGSA Web Hosting, RUN AWAY!!!

P.S. In case you're wondering, although the account I have, but not for long, with BGSA Web Hosting Services is a reseller account, I haven't had the guts to sell hosting to anyone else. This was my original intention but why would I put others through the soul destroying experience I've had!

It seems like BGSA's problems are because they are the "cheap" provider, all the spammers have flocked over to their service. Below is the full email I received less than 20 minutes ago:

From past few months we are facing lots of issues from SPAMHAUS they have blacklisted all our IPs due to ongoing complaints from forum SPAM, from now onwards we are not allowing those SEO tools i.e XRUMER or Scrapebox etc, our network provider is suspending all the IPs which are active on forum spam and which are listed on  http://www.stopforumspam.com/, please note that once your IPs are blocked we will assign you clean un-used IP for $10 extra charge and if again the new IP is blocked then the server will be suspended permanently.

NOTE: This email is only for those customers who are using our servers for Forum SPAM.
If you have any question please do not hesitate to open a support ticket.
Kind Regards,
BGSA Web Hosting Team

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Don't Resell with Reseller

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

I'm sorry to hear about your issues.  Sounds like they themselves are resellers of service based on their servers being in Seattle and the offices in the Philippines.  Looking at their site they say they have a data center in France, Netherlands and Germany too.  Again these are probably resold services they purchased and are reselling.

In the future do good research on hosting companies.  Ask a lot of questions.  Ask where their data centers are.  Ask if they have a staff actually at the DC.  And as I think you've figured out, you get what you pay for.  Cheap service is almost always that, cheap.

Best of luck getting out of this with them and moving on in your endevours.
