I am wondering how safe my personal information will be. A concern at this point. Hoping to avoid a report
I have been informed that plasma is very useful and saves many lives. I know many people who give the plasma, and then donate the money earned from the donation to a charity. A group of women I know have been doing this for some time. I though wow ! What a great way to help.
I have a charity in mind and would like to start my own group of women doing this. So, I had to check it out before I could recruit anyone.
I went to the facility to check in for my appointment. Someone's personal paperwork was laying on the podium/desk. I handed it to the woman working and she sat it down. I read the other person's SS#. I made some general comment about not wanting the info out for everyone to see.
I did not see if the donor had left it there, or if it was staff members error.
I had brought my paycheck stub rather than my SS#, and I do not have my SS# printed for safety. I had not intended to give the SS# to the company. I was informed they HAD to have my SS#. I cancelled and asked for some time to think about it.
I was nervous about the needles, and not really looking forward completing the process. The building was clean and the staffs appearance was profesional.
I was not prepared for some of the other donors appearances. I had expected elderly, college students, and others like my self. The donors present were not what I expected. The staff was not rude. The staff was not welcoming, they all knew I was new and this was my initial appointment.
I am wondering if keeping my personal info confidental going to be a problem. If anyone has has had issues or concerns, similar to this, that you have not taken the time to post, I would really appreciate hearing them.
I have had my info stolen from a very irresponsible apartment complex, and it was hell fixing it. The apartment complex had zero liabilty. I have excellent credit, and a decent income. I do not want someone else capitalizing on my hard work. I also feel some responsibility in asking others to join in.
I would really like to be able to do this for a charity. If I can get a regular group, this would generate more money than I could manage to donate.
Thanks so much.

Sort of people donating.

With your comment's about the sort of donors at the center seems so rude. All donors have to pass testing or they cannot donate. Everyone looks the same on the inside. Can't wrap my head around you worrying about how folks look but yet you want to do charity work. Perhaps you should find charity money at a country club with the "beautiful people", you absolutely don't belong with us good hearted people that don't measure up to your s****.>

Worth doing

I have been donating for over 2 years. I am shocked to hear you saw someones Soc Sec #. I have never seen this before. I have had them comment to people not to be to close to someone else at the computers because of privacy issues and such. I felt like you on the 1st visit but after all this time I can say they are BUSY. They do have strict guidelines and sometimes it is not real friendly but they are doing their jobs and they must make sure to do A, B C and D to meet government requirements. The 1st trip is 3-4 hours and you wonder if it is worth it but after that you may be there and hour on averag.
Also depends on the time of day you go. Sometime you are lucky to find a place to park other times they are slower. as for the needle I still don't like it but one pokemost the time is all it takes. I think they have had to adjust mine maybe 3-5 time or completely remove it and put in myother arm 2 time in 2 years so about 200-250 times. and of course there are a few people you think they are just there for a paycheck but most are friendly. Sone trips you will feel like a number just because of the volume of people but they will be close if you need anything.
