Just noticed on my credit report that I have a collection account reporting in Jan 2009 for BMG Music! Called the collection agency and they said it was from 2003 and they just got the case in Dec of 2008.
I find that so ridiculous because I havent rec'd a single thing from BMG about any balance owed and I havent rec'd anything from the Collection Agency either!
I've noticed many other people experiencing the same thing on here. I'm in the early stages of disputing this and of course there is no contact numbers for BMG on their website. The collection lady said she would send out a letter and it would have the contact info on it.
I am furious about this and plan to take whatever action I can legally.
**I actually just found this info for them:

Who exactly is the 'collection agency'?

This may not be BMG doing this at all. I had some shady 'company' named 'Tahkar' trying to say I owed BMG money when I have never ever done business with them. Alot of people got the same calls. Somehow, we all had the exact same 'file number'. Now how could that be if we were all different individuals? It just reeks of scam.

Dispute the debt

with the credit reporting agencies. If BMG cannot prove this is a valid debt within 30 days, by law the items have to be removed. I have done this myself in the past with several fraudulent items that were added to my credit report. Good LUck.
