I worked with Brand.com for months March – September of this year 2014 in an effort to clean up my auto suggest terms in google. My salesperson explained it wouldn’t take more than 3 months and would cost $4,000 each month. She even showed me how they came to the $4k price… by counting my searches in the google “add words” tool.
When things weren’t going according to plan and the unflattering words stayed in my autosuggestion box well into this month (the SEVENTH month when they told it would only take THREE), I asked my account manager. He told me that “some terms take longer, and others not so long.” What a s**t answer. He couldn’t explain it further, and when I asked for more information he sounded exasperated and short with me. When I asked to speak to his manager STEVE DRIBEN, my AM told me that Steve refused. As the VP of account management, you’d think STEVE DRIBEN couldn’t use that excuse.
I received a call later the same day from a 215 area code number (Brand.com is based in Philadelphia) and wouldn’t you know that its my account manager, calling me from his mobile phone, to let me know that he is doing the best he can but Brand.com had decided to suspend services like mine as well as Wikipedia editing services while they tried to “get funding.” He clarified that he meant Brand.com was broke (“tight on cash”) and couldn’t afford to pay their vendors. Seems funny to me that my $4,000 isn’t enough to run my service at least, ive got to wait for the company to get funding? MY AM explained that the profit margin on these services is something like 96%? Really, you guys couldn’t keep SOME of that and put it away for a rainy day??
Just to verify this, I returned to the add words tool that my salesperson had showed me originally. I recognized a spike in March and April, and then a dropoff begins in May and June. Through May, June, July, and August, my search counts are dismal. Brand.com gladly took my payment and didn’t do a d**n thing with it. I’ve got the searches to prove it.
I cancelled my service two days ago and I requested a refund through my credit card the same day. You can’t treat customers like that.

Brand.com, Michael Zammuto, Steve Driben, Jonathan Cooper, Tim Ryder and Entire Leadership Team Delivers on Service
AUTHOR: Steve - (USA)

Every once in a while, a company’s leadership team is forced to make some very difficult decisions. That was the case back in September 2014 for Michael Zammuto, Steve Driben and the entire leadership team at Brand.com.
This article provides background pertaining to a former Brand.com employee who chose to anonymously post online false statements and accusations about Steve Driben.
Steve Driben and The Brand.com Leadership Team
September of 2014, the public-facing leadership team at Brand.com, which at that time included President & Chief Operating Officer Michael Zammuto, Chief Content Officer Jonathan Cooper, Vice President Steve Driben, Chief Financial Officer Tim Ryder, and Chief Legal Officer Ryan Andrews, Esq..
The Lay Off
The leadership team faced an uphill challenge to realign the company, reversing the declining customer base. This realignment strategy involved a reduction in workforce and the combining of complementary roles in an attempt to save the company.
Retaliatory Action From A Terminated Employee
The day after Brand.com’s difficult decision to layoff a portion of its workforce, several employees alerted the leadership team members that an employee unfortunately affected by this layoff intentionally posted false and defaming statements online about certain named individuals including Steve Driben as retaliation for his termination from the company.
The Response
In direct response, Brand.com’s Chief Legal Officer Ryan Andrews, Esq. in conjunction with outside counsel from the Law Offices of Eric Trajtenberg, successfully filed a 33 page defamation complaint on November 18, 2014, Docket #: 14 -11287 with the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, Chester County; Brand.com, Inc. (plaintiff) v. John Does I-X, Jane Does I-X, ABC Partnerships I-X; DEF Limited Liabilities Companies I-X; and XYZ Corporation I-X (defendants). There was no response from defendants and it was determined that that these anonymous statements were unfounded, knowingly false, and posted in a deliberate attempt to harm and slander Brand.com, Steve Driben and others.
The Reality
Steve Driben has always made himself available to his clients and has earned the trust and respect of hundreds of customers and coworkers from many companies over the years. Steve Driben has demonstrated the highest integrity, professionalism and respect towards his customers and business associates.
