Bright Start Childcare and Learning Center owners, Michelle and John Ginley are scammers! They hired my services to repaint the entire daycare center. They told me how the were new business owners, so understanding the hardships of starting a new business, I gave them an excellent deal and agreed to payments as well as no deposit.  Thoughout the job they kept avoiding signing the contract. More than halfway through the job I inquired about the contract, they responded saying they wanted more time to make the FIRST payment (from 30 days to 45 days). So I rewrote the contract to suit them and the again refused to sign it. So I had no choice but to temporarily suspend my services until we reached an agreement. A few days later we discussed things and against my better judgement I agreed to resume work with no contract. The first night I was to return ( I worked nights at the daycare painting and days at another job), Michelle sent me rude and disrespectfull text messages about how I was costing them money and time. She then refused to give me the code to enter the daycare( they changed it on me). So I was forced to withdraw my services. I have $750 in materials and $1000 in labor, not counting my own hours invested in this job, and she then tells me I wont get paid a penny. Bright Start Childcare and Learning Center are scammers. John Ginley and Michelle Ginley are liars and shysters. I would never in my life want to send my child into an environment like that!

My name is Jim Anthony from J Anthony painting.  I would like to start by stating that if all my customers were like John Ginley and Michelle Ginley from Bright Start Child Care and Learning Center in Naperville, I would have zero issues.  I HAVE NO TIES TO BRIGHT START CHILD CARE AND LEARNING CENTER OR TO JOHN GINLEY OR MICHELLE GINLEY OTHER THAT BEING HIRED AS A PAINTING CONTRACTOR.  AFTER SEEING THEIR INTEGRITY AND HONESTY, THEIR CENTER WOULD BY FAR BE MY FIRST CHOICE FOR MY CHILDREN.  I WOULD LIKE TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT.  Not only was I treated honestly and with respect, I never even had to ask for payment.  They handed me a check.  I have been painting and staining for over 20 years.  As owner one of the largest painting businesses in Du Page county, I feel I have some credibility.

In my professional opinion, the work that JW Decorating did was some of the most shoddy work I have ever seen in my 20+ years.  At the most, the job was 15% complete.  And that 15% was pretty pathetic.  The paint was applied without primer, the quality of paint was substandard, paint was spilled and not cleaned up, and he used masking tape instead of blue painters tape and damaged some walls that we had to correct.  Basically I had to start from scratch due to the very poor job started by JW decorating.  It is painting contractors like JW Decorating that give credible contractors like myself a bad name.  I feel bad for the Ginleys who had to deal with this painter.  John Ginley is correct that sites like this are good except that anyone can make an accusation even if unfounded and you have little recourse.  HOPEFULLY I HAVE SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT.

Sites like this are great.  Only problem is that there isnt a built in truth detector.  If there was, this site would have blown up from Mr. Webbs, shall we say misinformation.  Lets set the record straight.  I am not sure where to start being there is mostly embellishments and outright deceit in Mr. Webbs assertions.

He did not give an excellent deal on the work.  His estimate was right in the middle.  We chose Mr. Webb because he agreed to let us pay 30 days after job was complete, and the other 30 days after that.  He allowed this due to us just starting out and it was the same deal his friend gave us for cleaning the facility.  He never gave us a contract in the beginning.  My wife and I came in to the center a few days after he had started the job.  At that point, we saw a letter/contract on the table. No problem.  EXCEPT, Mr. Webb changed the terms we had agreed to.  The contract stated 1st payment was due 30 days from the day he started the job.  2 issues.  1-You do not change the terms without discussing with the other side.  2-No one offers a contract with such terms.  It just doesnt happen. If he took 30 days to finish job, we would owe immediately.  So we called Webb to ask why he changed terms.  He said he thought that was what we discussed originally.  Fair enough.  However, we pointed out to him 2 things.  Why is he just giving us a contract now, and reminded him that the deal was 30 days after job was complete, same as Jim the cleaner  He replied well I dont remember exactly those terms but I can live with it..  Problem solved.  OR SO WE THOUGHT.

2 days later we come into the office and he has a new contract sitting there. This one states that he is changing the terms again.  He needs $700 now or cant finish the job.  Again, he changes terms without any verbal discussion.   He states we changed the contract.  How can we change HIS contract?

Regarding his contention that the job was 80% complete, we have 2 signed statements from painting contractors that say the job was 15 20 % complete.  He did absolutely nothing in the foyer, reception area, front office, skylights, 2 planters, playground, laundry room, 6 bathrooms, or the kitchen.  ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.  Not even touched.  He painted some classrooms with 1 coat.  He didnt even use primer according to experts.

He charged us for the paint @ $30 a gallon for Sherwin-Williams.  A fair price.  However, he used Americas Finest from Home Depot which was on sale at the time for $7.99 a gallon.

Mr. Webb has never produced a receipt for any materials even though we had asked several times.  Mr. Webb damaged a computer while moving it rendering it useless.  He also damaged 5 large bookcases that were screwed in to the wall for safety while trying to remove them, even though we instructed him to paint around them.  We will attempt recoup that cost later.  We have probably 40 pictures of his shoddy work.  Virtually everything Ive mentioned here has documentation.  We found a painting contractor who charged us $4000 for the whole job.  Because Webb is in breach of contract in walking away from the job on his own accord, we will pursue $500.00 which is the amount Webb cost us by his breach.  That is the amount over what we would have paid Webb.

Furthermore, we consider his statements not only fabricated at best, they are libelous in fact.  We are in contact with Attorneys seeking instruction on how to pursue legal action against Mr. Webb.  We will seek damages for his lies on this site, reimbursement for the computer and bookcases, and the $500.00   extra we had to pay another painter.

Obviously Mr. Webb is not immersed in reality.

Lastly, Mr. Webb never produced a Village business license, E.P.A. license (which he needs because the building is older), or a copy of his liability insurance.  I have enclosed photos of Webb's fine work.  Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this scam artist.
