Avoid Broadway Photo! They are a rip-you operation!

After finding the camcorder I wanted on their website, I telephoned Broadway Photo to confirm the information before placing an order (price, model, included accessories, sealed mfg. packaging, USA Model, availability). The representative confirmed all the information and I placed an order over the website.

Three days later I received an e-mail asking me to confirm the order (Big Red Flag). I called the number in the e-mail and was told the price I rceived did not include a lense??? He asked "...how was I going to shoot video without a lense?" I was also told I would need to purchase other accessories that, according to the website, were to be included with the purchase price, such as a battery.

I began quoting the description of the camcorder from Broadway's website to the representative, which details the type of lense and accessories that come with camcorder. The representative became extremely rude and said it only describes what is available for the camera...not what comes with it!!! He then said he was not going to discuss this further and was cancelling my order, after which he hung up before I could respond.

I've come across several web-based companies (e.g., 1 way Photo) selling the same products for similar, if not identical, prices, freebees, and special packages. I believe they are all the same company located in NY, running the same con job, with the same rude, disrespectful operators.

Please...save youself a whole lot of time and trouble and stay away form these companies, especially those asking for a phone "confirmation" after you place an order over the web. No reputible web-based business operates this way. Generally, the point of sale is also the point of purchase confimation.

Stick with authorized dealers for Cannon, Sony, etc., products You may pay a little more, but it's well worth it to know you are receiving the genuine article, backed by the mfgr., from a business that actually likes helping buyers with their purchase.
