BEWARE of Butcher's Choice, Inc. of Toledo Ohio-habit of arriving at hectic dinnertime, as to confuse potential buyer's-blatantly & openly encourage people to post date checks, cashes them early & customer service representative immediately responds with a snarling "post dating checks is illegal!" Suspect meat is bad (bad smelling, after opening flash sealed packages). Searched the internet & found recalls.

Door to door sales Representatives achieve their entry with the promise of "samples" and return with many boxes that are promptly emptied upon counters, floors, etc. I, personally believe this is intentional, as dinner is obviously being prepared and the potentional buyer is very distracted & anxious to get the product out of the way. The "samples" turn out to be their actual product,cases of it, that they are trying very hard to sell.

In our case, we explained that we had just finished shopping (it was when we were bringing in our groceries, that we were first approached) and didn't have enough money left over to cover the CASES of meat that were emptied onto our floors & counters. Rob Middendorf was very persistent."When will you have it? You can just post date a check" he suggested. Rob handed us fliers that boasted "OUR GUARANTEE-We guarantee our product 100% for flavor,tenderness and freezer burn for up to one year. If for any reason you are unsatisfied with any product you purchase from us, please contact our Customer Service Department. We were very foolish & did so, without first checking out the company's reputation.

Our check was cashed 2 days early ($311.00). I checked our bank account online & called Butcher's Choice Customer Service Dept. Jason answered and was very aggressive and confrontational. He took 2 messages from me and Rob never called me back.After Jason became confrontational, I told him I was going to file a complaint with the media-he asked if I wanted him to provide the numbers, than told me "Lady, I have a business to run here!"I contend..Not a very ethical one. In the meantime, we tried the meat. It has a faint odor and when I checked online, I found recalls for their meat.

Obviously, I have to consider this a foolish lesson on my part, but would really like to alert the public about this company. They are unethical, devious and once you purchase, you can forget any so-called Customer Service Representative helping you-Jason was not only uncooperative, he was insulting and rude and downright confrontational.

This company seems to prey upon people's ignorance and have practiced replies at hand when complaints come in. BEWARE.
