12/21/09 - Placed order for 100 3" diameter 100% embroidered patches.  Supplied artwork for them to make appropriate for a patch.

multiple "how are things going" emails...

02/02/10 - Received an email from a new sales Rep "Christie".  She claims to have been trying to phone me to get a response about my proofs.  Good thing that email actually had the proofs attached, else we wouldn't have had anything to talk about anyway.

02/08/10 - Wasn't happy with the color matching.  Submitted a more brightly colored version of the same artwork.  Wasn't thrilled with the thread coverage or quality of lettering, but I figured that could be tackled in later correspondence.

02/09/10 - Received response back from "Christie" stating that my edits "were very detailed".

02/18/10 - Nothing yet.  Sent another "how are things proceeding" message.  I was informed it was the Chinese New Year and things had gotten backed up.

03/08/10 - Nothing yet.  Sent another "how are things proceeding" message.  No response.

03/09/10 - I'm starting to get irritated.  Sent another message stating the time frames they advertised are not being followed.  The following is my message:

"I paid for my order December 21st, 2009.  Since then, I've been through 2 representatives and am now without one.  Also, in that time, I have only received the initial digitized patch sample, and that was on February 2nd, 2010.

Your site claims 2-3 day turn-around.  So far, I've experienced a 6 week turn-around with my initial submission, and have been waiting on submitted changes for an additional 5 weeks.

I believe I have given your company the benefit of the doubt enough times.  I can understand the Chinese New Year.  I can understand the necessity to move representatives around in the company.  What I don't understand is how twice now my contact with your company is "moved out of the patch department", and I'm left waiting for someone to contact me.

Please refund my full amount paid ($207) back to the account from which you were paid.  I can only hope that transaction will be a quick one.
"

"Sarah" replied, stating that my order was being processed.  They did not yet have a tracking number, but would provide one when able.

How could my order be in production?  I haven't even seen edit #2 yet!  I "kindly" replied to cease pretending not to understand English and process my refund.  Nothing.

I then start my phone calls.  unlike other reviews I've read, I was actually successful in reaching someone by phone.

The phone supervisor I got in contact with (Matthew) did everything he could to save the sale, including denying me a refund based upon my electronic signature on the invoice.

The invoice states that refunds cannot be given on orders due to the specialty nature.  I explained to him they were only out 1 3" round patch, not a banana-shaped patch.  They would be able to "recover" that material easy enough.

However, I decided to give them one last shot.  He said he would take my edits and have production come up with a proof.

Six hours later, I receive my new proof.  The threading was still thin, but the colors matched and the lettering was much improved...  And when i zoomed into the image, I could see why.

They cleverly super-imposed computer generated graphics on top of my first proof.  When flipping between the original proof and this 2nd proof, the threads lined up exactly, the merrow imperfections were exact in both images, and there was even a loose thread in the 2nd proof that was in the same position and the same color as my original.  And they would have suckered me in if they would have done a better job matching up the graphical text to the scan.  There were places where the edges of the graphics and threading didn't match.

I submitted my screen shots back to Matthew.  I explained to him that he requested one last chance and his company returned blatant fraud in return.  This last gesture was a deal-breaker.

He still tried to save the sale.  He offered discounted pricing on future (probably sub-par quality) orders.

He also asked if I had considered going with another "type" of patch.  I explained to him I simply submitted artwork.  It was up to his company to find out what would suit the end product.  On the site, they showed a "napkin" that had been drawn on with the end result.  Surely by me provided artwork my patch would have been of the same quality...  Maybe somewhere else, but not with Butler.

This was enough evidence to have Matthew process a FULL REFUND.
