The rep came to my house saying that all would be cared for in the sale of my house, including the title search, and closing etc. The truth was they charged me 3,000.00 for advertising my house on the internet., and the closing cost and other paper work was was a 1% on the cost of the sale of my house. They made me sign a paper I never read, saying it was something other than what it was.

The rep told me I could make payments (4) of 20.00 a month, which in fact it was over 500.00.and when it sold, I could pay the rest out from the sale.

I am a widow of 70 yrs old, and on a fixed income.and when I said to S&S Financial I couldn't make that payment of what they wanted. they charged me a late fee, and put a lien on my house., and this was my first payment that was due.

My home was paid for and had no mortgage, but because of this I had to take out a homeowners to pay this off.
I had no calls no emails about prospective buyers in the 3 months I was on the net. So I wanted out of this contract with them. I was paid up., and had just given 3,000.00 to them for nothing in return.

I had called and never got a return call from them as they were either out of the office, in the hospital, or on the phone or on vacation. This went on for months., or they had no authority to do this.

Now I wanted just to cancel my contract. and with MLS, they will not let me out of the 1% to be pd to them if I sell my house with anyone till next Sept., as they said I signed a contract with them till then., which I wasn't advised of when I signed this paper., of what it was even for....

They are rip offs, and I have written the DBPR and the Attorney Generals ofc, among others.
I cannot afford to get a lawyer, as I have so much invested now., and when I sell I will have to pay more to a real real estate co., plus moving costs. as my health depends on me moving closer to family in Michigan.

I have been a nervous wreck over this transaction. and would love to have these people give me my money back...they can keep some for the advertising, but it sure don't cost 3,000.00 and I want out of this MLS contract that is holding me prisoner in my own home.
Thank you for listening..and God Bless

Making no headway with BuyOwner and my demise

AUTHOR: Carol - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 02, 2006

Thank you for your concern, but I am making no headway with this problem with BuyOwner, MLS or S&S Financial, here in the Tampa area. I have written leters to 3 newspapers here, and to a tv station, that says they help people with fraud etc. called 8online...And to the proper people in real estate, the Board of Realtors, DBPR, the attorney General, and several others.

BuyOwner has sent me a letter releasing me from their contract, as it was paid up, per my request, but as always they say they do not assume responsiblities I have to the other 2 companies...MLS or S&S. In essense I have paid 1,000.00 for a two month advertising on the internet, with no results, which a real estate agent told me that these ads should not have gone beyond $500.00 what they did....for the entire package.

I went to see a Senior legal aid attorney yesterday, and he told me that because I signed these papers with them, there is no help for me. I tried to explain in detail, but he kept looking at the papers, and not letting me explain in full what I went thru...Also that S&S Financial never sent me a "satisfaction for mortgage", after I had paid them the entire money they say I owed them which totaled $3020.00., which they should have to release my property that they were holding .
I did call S&S and asked if I owed any money they said no, and I asked them to send me a paper stating that, which they were reluctant to do, but I insisted. So they said they would.

I had a man come to my door yesterday because he saw my signs were down, and thought I had sold my house, and was thinking of going with them....Well, he walked away with knowing what crooks and scam artists they really are. So I am bad for their business and will continue to be.

MLS will not release me from my contract of 1% if I sell my house till next Sept., and I will just sit on it till then, because they are not getting another penny from me...They have cost me a paid up house, to me having to get a homeowners loan from my bank, and now I have a 10 yr mortgage on my house, and I will be 80 by the time I have this paid up, unless I sell it and pay off this loan.

I have learned a valuable lesson by signing my name to papers without explanations, and then having someone who "knows" to advise me.

Buyowner.com = Shady

AUTHOR: Amanda - (U.S.A.)

Hi Carol,

Have you considered contacting the Dept. of Elderly Affairs? It definitely sounds as though you have been taken advantage of, and this is not the first time I've heard of Buyowner doing this. If you're interested, you can contact the Florida Statewide Senior Legal Helpline at 1-888-895-7873. Hopefully they can guide you in the right direction.

On a side note, people need to realize that Buyowner.com is sometimes just as costly, if not more, than hiring a Realtor to lise your home. They won't tell you that, but their goal is to upsell the customer as much as possible with their "marketing package", which means tons of pictures and virtual tours that people DON'T NEED. Be careful of these people... if you want to sell your home yourself, sell it yourself. There are lots of companies out there who will do your home photo package and virtual tours for under $200.

Good luck to you!
