We received a letter dated 2/21/05 and the envelope postmarked on 2/19/05. It was from Capital Management claiming that their records indicated they had not received payment on behalf of Sherman Acquisition LP since the first notice. We never got the first notice.
They used an address that we haven't lived at for 3 years. I called to find out who the debt was originally owed to. They said Associates Visa. We've never had an Associates Visa card and we haven't had any credit cards in 5 years or more.
We haven't made any bills since we moved to Vermont in 2000. I checked the credit report which did not show the amount of $1472.78 owed to anyone. They've now started telephoning us. They must have gotten our number off the credit report. We updated it when we went in to check on this mystery bill. The phone is in my name and not in my boyfriends.
