A banking company that can't account. When using credit card many times after card has been already paid in full, yet is denied for insufficient funds. Even after making a double payment for amount owed capital one can't seem to add 1 plus 1 equals. They acknowledge double payment yet still insists on denying card with zero balance. After talking to more than 8 people on the 800 number about such problems, the problems continue to exists. This company will only allow a percentage of payment and continue to keep the rest for up to 6 full business days with on line payments. Though they acknowledge not one payment has been turned down my my bank they still insist that it is their policy to with hold funds. Not only is it embracing to be turned down while making purchases on a card that you have paid off in full, but it is this company's policy to make up any excuse at the time while apologizing for the trouble. For get about using the on line website, it is never up to date and is as useless as the credit card. I will soon be finding a new credit card to carry in my wallet.

If you are paying twice as much as your balance due is -- for example, you have a $1000 balance and you make a payment of $2000 -- you are fitting the profile of what a lot of credit card fraudsters do. They make huge payments on their credit cards, then rack up tons of charges or take out a large cash advance as soon as the payments post -- but before their payments bounce. Then they dump the card with no intention of every paying any of it back.
No wonder they put your payments on hold. They have to make sure your payments aren't going to bounce first, and that can take several days.
BTW, this isn't limited to Capital One. If you try doing this with another credit card company, you'll likely find yourself facing the same problem. One way around it, however, is to make a payment with guaranteed funds via Western Union.
