Capital Trust Inc. Trust Capital Inc., SMP Investments Home Improvement Grant Scam Keeseville, New York

I received a letter in the mail, without any logos on the envelope, from Canada.  Inside was a check for $3650 and a letter informing me that I had been selected by Publishers' Clearing House to be paid a $26000 home improvement grant.  The letter directed me to call Fred Miller, at 1-289-892-4236 to activate my check, which was provided to me to cover the taxes and fees associated with the grant.  Thanks to this website I came across other very similar scams so I knew not to cash the check.  The scam works as such: I deposit the check and mail them the $2650 to cover my "fees."  Once they get the money, the check bounces in my account and I am out what I sent them.  Thank you to this website and the others who took the time to report what this group is doing.  I hope my report saves someone else from this insidious con.
