The Career Development Center of Atlanta will claim that they can help you with your search for unemployment, not only help you, but to get you working within days of signing up. The staff may seem sincere about assisting you with your search but in reality, they are only concerned with receiving your payment. The majority of the individuals that have been to this service have been victimized by responding to advertisements in the AJC and Craigslist. Although one with intelligence may suspect that they are a service by the way the staff answers the phone, you would still never expect to be thrown a sales pitch in your appointment. The only reason you are asked personal information in the "interview" is because they are trying to manipulate you into utilizing their "premium" service. For example, "Oh, you've been looking for almost 9 months? Well you are losing money by not using our service. You could have a paycheck by next week!" I hardly know of any companies that would be willing to provide you with pay the very next week. Any legit company would need to take the time to get proper employee documents and for you to be on their payroll. The only exception I can think of is if you are receiving payment under the table, or cash daily. Furthermore, the company will also attempt to prove its legitimacy by stating that they have the necessary paperwork (such as a service agreement and client "membership" card). Anyone could order this paperwork from an online website. It doesn't take a genius to comprehend this. If you are unfortunate enough to fall into their hands, I severely hope that you did not provide them with your credit information because they will take no hesitation to draft your account for payment. Regardless if you have received legitimate employment. Their rebuttal will simplybe that you are paying for a service, not a job. And not to mention"Our service is non-cancelable, non-refundable and non-transferable." Which in a sense is true, but you are not receiving the service that you are being fed. Or that yourightfully deserve. You would be better off registering with a staffing/temp service. Keep in mind that the Career Development Center will tell you that you still have to pay money for the majority of staffing companies. This is true, however, the charge is not upfront and you are more likely to get decent work through staffing services. Please stay away from this company, they will do nothing more than pull onyour heart strings and make promises that they cannot keep. You should also know that this company has already been featured on Channel 11 by a consumer investigative reporter. Oh, and one last thing. The only job leads that I was sent out on that showed results (very little) was Reading America and JD & Associates. One is a telemarketing company and the other is a sales company. Do not, I repeat, do not give into this unethical staff. They will only have you running around in circles and wishing you never paid for the service in the first place. This company is a disgrace to the economy and will make no difference in the unemployment rate here in Georgia.
