I had been in the Atlanta area for a few months and I was having problems finding a job.  There was a listing on Craigslist for a customer service job, and I called the number listed.  I was given an appointment and I went in thinking that I was going to be interviewed for a job.  I arrived and signed in, and I talked to a man named Carlo.  As I talked to him at his desk I noticed the credit card logo's they had posted up. Carlo then begin to explain to me that what they do is find people jobs for a fee.  Honestly I have been out if work for so long that I was willing to take a chance.  I was put on a payment plan and was guaranteed a job withing a day of two.  With the position I was in, this was music to my ears.  I gave them a payment for 100.00.  The total of thier service is $360.  I was told that once I received a job I would have the opportunity to make payments for as little as $25 a week until I paid off the other $260. These people give you the impression that once you walk into a business thyey send you to, and mention that you are from the Career Development Center you practically have the job. This is really thier selling point to get you out of your money. The same day that I gave them the money I was sent out to several places of business. Some either were not hiring, or were not hiring for the position that I was told.  I was sent for an assistant manager position and was told when I got there that they already had and assistant manager.  I called Carlo, and he gave me several more leads that went NO WHERE. Carlo was fired a week later and I found out that this company will hire anyone to sit behind their desk.  I then began to talk to Shawn adn Christie.  They assured me that they could help me and apologized for Carlo.  I was sent on a few more leads, all of which paid next to nothing.  When you walk in they have a white board that has a loit of jobs from 13.00 - 15.00 an hour, but when they sit you down and start showing you jobs, most of them are barely paying 9.00 an hour. All of the jobs that they have in the "Hot Jobs" book, you literally can find yourself on the internet, through either Monster.com or Career Builder.  I went to one job and I applied and got the position. The morning that I ready to go to that job I was pulled over and my car was impounded for driving with suspended license (Totally my fault), it took me about 6 days to straighten that situation out.  I went back to the CDC and explained what happened.  Keep in mind I had been assured that they would not be seeking another payment from me until I was working.  The day after I explained my situation, thier credit department attacked my debit card for $260, which I did not have, and they kept attempting to debit until they took the last $150 I had to my name.  I STILL DO NOT HAVE A JOB and these people have $250 of my money.  No one told me when they were going to take the money, their was no warning what so ever.  I was told that there was nothing that they could do about it and that I was now on a list of people that they were not to help.  I would not mind paying for the service if they did what they said they could do.  They are a rip off, and if you have read all of this, I am telling you the truth when I tell you to stay away from these people.

Should have just walked out

AUTHOR: Giselle - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 06, 2010

As soon as you were informed about the fees, you should have laughed heartily and walked out.  Why would you pay someone for a job, especially when there are literally hundreds or maybe even thousands of staffing agencies in your area who would help you find employment, even if temporary, at no charge to you.
