I just returned from my honeymoon, and I am so disapointed with my cruise. It started out great. I have to jump right into this.
1.My money was taken from my room out of an envelope. The envelope had Twelve Hundred dollars in it. I noticed when I returned from the Island my door was wide open and a man I assume was an electrician was in the room.  WE SEARCHED THE ROOM FROM TOP TO BOTTOM.  it was taken from the room. When I went to security before I returned to the room the envelope was returened and $320.00 had been removed and placed back into the room. The room was searched completley by the security looking for $320.00. When I saw the envelope with some of the money taken from it I knew that the money taken would never be recovered. Check with the security they have the report.  We were on Carnival Victory Cabin 8252 (8-28-2011)   7 day cruise.
2.The bar was occupied by children I have photos to support this
3.Babies were in the hot tub with diapers (pampers)  on  ( I have photos to support this)
4.The smoking section was occupied with children. There was no place for adults that smoke could sit.
5.Signs should support this and they were not.
6. We never made it to St. Martaan Island, due to the weather (they said)
7.I purchase a watch from the gift shop which cost me $109.00 orginally $199.00 we waited until that Saturday evening to purchase the watch. We packed the watch in our suitcase. When we got home thewatch was gone. It had to be taken from our baggage from the night they took it to the holding area.
My husband and I paid for this cruise in a one time lump sum. We are both hard working attorneys.  I am a gold card member. I have always traveled Carnival Cruise Lines in the past.
I am so dissapointed with what has just happened to us. I am not asking you to reimburst me the entire trip or give me a free trip, I am requesting that make some type of restitution to me and my husband. You only have one honeymoon and Carnival made mine honeymoon a living hell. I am writing you this letter with tears in my eyes, saying to myself how did I let this happened. After just hearing some horror stories from other partners at the firm
1. I want my money back for the watch that was STOLEN from my baggage.
2. I want to be reimburst for the island that we did not go to. After all that was part of my total purchase when we took this cruise. Carnival made money of f of us that day at sea.
3. I want the investigation to continue and I want a report or it.
4. I want to know that signs are put up around the bar where alacholic beverages are served. It is against the law in all areas for children NOT to sit at bars stool where alachol is being served.
5.Please believe me when I say that we are not rich and far from being poor, but right is right and we should be treated with respect and dignity. I need answeres and soon.
6. I have made up my mind that I will tell everyone from my law firm not to travel Carnival Cruise Lines and for them to tell their friends
7. I will post it on Facebook as well as the other popular sites as well as Twitter
8. I will post it on U-Tube
9. I will contact the other cruiselines and let them know the nightmare that was apon us.

Of course the OP will not give us the name of which bar

AUTHOR: Steven - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, September 11, 2011

As some of you may or may not know is that usually at least one of the bars on board will have a kids (or really teens) only dance in one of the bars usually used by adults. They will have dances or other events in the bar up until around midnight at which time the kids are chased out and adults are admitted.

Of course the OP will not give this info out because then you can see that the rest of this posting is full of discrepancies as well. Take for example purchasing a watch for cash in the gift shop. Anyone that has been on a Carnival cruise ship knows that all purchases made are done on  the sign and sail card. Just like drinks and everything else on the ship (except you can tip the bartenders and wait staff with cash if you want).

Agreed

I have to agree with the other posters.  The one you may want to consider filing a lawsuit is on is the school you attended....the one who gave you a degree in ANYTHING other than "huked ohn fonix werkd fer yu"---------mainly because it didn't.

I am in shock that anyone much less a lawyer would post in a public forum with such deplorable spelling and sentence structure.  Im no pro at sentence structure, online anyway, but d**n, I can spell.

By the way.........how many of us will now be accused of working for Carnival Cruise lines??

eta: Im an investigator but not for Carnival....does that count? LOL

Dude..wait...what?

Did the OP actually write that it is against the law for kids NOT to sit at the bar while alcoholic beverages were served? Meaning that she expects kids to be sitting at the bar while the alcohol runs freely?

Man, I wish I had her for a babysitter when I was a kid.

Random Thoughts by Mike

AUTHOR: Michael - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, September 10, 2011

This is for the rebuttal above that says flag state is responsible for the laws governing kids in bars.  Not true.  Flag state has very little to do with anything on board the ship.  The U.S. has jurisdiction on all cruises starting and ending in the U.S. and U.S. law does not prevent minors from being in bars and there are no such laws governing them in bars on the high seas.  This is all regulated by cruise line policy.

As for the author of this report, please go back and re-take the grammar portion of your law school.  Your writing sucks.

You should sue!

Not the cruise line, but your law school.   A first year law student would notice the giant holes in half of your claims.

Children in supposedly restricted areas

AUTHOR: James MK - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 06, 2011

It is my understanding that while in international waters, shipboard regulations regarding the presence of minors in areas where alcohol is served and/or smoking and/or gambling permitted are based on the legislation of the country where the ship's port of registry is located. Said country is not necessarily the same as the one where the cruise line is headquartered, in fact it rarely is. Many European countries allow minors access to bars as long as they aren't served alcoholic beverages.

As for the skipped port it would appear that the cruise has the proverbial -and bullet-proof- "Act of God" on its side, not much can be done about that.

Regarding lost money well, would you leave that much cash lying around in a hotel room? Same caution should be exercised aboard a cruise ship where dozens of staff have access to passenger cabins. I would not count on an in-depth investigation considering the relatively modest amount that vanished and the fact that there is no insurance claim involved.

That said I do understand your frustration and I admit I would be pretty ticked off myself.

Your co-workers will get a good laugh at your poor writing skills. Did you attend an online correspondence law school? Was it based in Central America?

Have you considered Travelers Cheques? Don't leave home without them.

You were surprised?

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 06, 2011

Based on how you wrote this report I am a little surprised that you are an attorney.  I do hope that you have one of your Law Clerks or other staff review anything you submit to the courts or other clients.

But onto your "RipOff".  If you have traveled Carnival in the past you should be aware of the clients they cater to, so not sure why you are surprised.   Several of your issues may be Passenger issues.  You said that signs "should" support no kids in the Bar or Smoking area.  If that is YOUR thoughts and not the policy then that is a personal issue and not one with Carnival.  If it was the policy, then did you just take pictures or actually try to notify the staff?  Keeping in mind that most Alcohol regulations vary by State, but at Sea you are in International Waters.

As for the whirlpool there are usually restrictions on that and again did you make the staff aware of it or just take pictures?

As to not visiting St. Martin because of weather.  Not sure of the exact date you were in that area, but there have been several Hurricanes/Tropical Storms in the last couple of weeks.

1. I want my money back for the watch that was STOLEN from my baggage.

- Who stole it?  Was it Carnival, the Dock Workers, Customs?  If you flew was it the Baggage handlers.  This is why if you read the Liability they have, they do not have liability for anything that may be stolen from the luggage.

2. I want to be reimburst for the island that we did not go to. After all that was part of my total purchase when we took this cruise. Carnival made money of f of us that day at sea.
- Yes you should be reimbursed.  If you read the conditions of the cruise you agreed to they are allowed to change the itinerary.  If you loose a port they are generally only required to refund the "Port Fee".  But don't go out expecting a windfall, that is usually around $20 or less per person.

3. I want the investigation to continue and I want a report or it.
- And exactly what do you want them to investigate a week after the fact?

4. I want to know that signs are put up around the bar where alacholic beverages are served. It is against the law in all areas for children NOT to sit at bars stool where alachol is being served.

- Again you are not in US waters most of the time so it would depend on the law that prevails.  However, while I agree with you that Children should not be at the bar.  But that is a parenting issue and not one with Carnival.

9. I will contact the other cruiselines and let them know the nightmare that was apon us.
- Really I just want to know what you expect to accomplish with this.   Do you expect them to talk to Carnival for you?

I will commend you for at least one thing, at least you are not asking for a free cruise.  But if in an entire week loosing 1 Island and having kids around ruined your Honeymoon you really need to put that behind you and look at the other positive items.
