First let me say that I have been going to Carraige Motors for more than 4 years.  In all that time I have spent more than $8,000 dollars in parts and service.  I tell you this because it is important to know that I was what you would call a valuable customer.  With a long history with this compan.

On or about 1 Sep 2009 I took my Chevy Tahoe in for a Oil Change.  As always the Service Rep called me with a long list of things that needed to be done to my truck.  I was discussted with the way they were treating me.  I told them I only wanted an oil change.  One of the things they said I needed was new brakes.  I then picked up my truck and replaced my brakes on my own.  I had bought the most expensive rotors and pads I could find.

Approximently one month later I took my tahoe into Carraige to have a new hood release installed.  Two weeks after picking up from dealer my Wife started complaining that the brakes were sqweeling.  I told her that it was not the brakes because I had just replaced them 2 months earlier.  But she insisted that it only happened when she applied the brakes.  After taking to another mechanic he informed me that my pads and rotors were completely gone.  He was able to turn the rotors, but said they would need to be replaced soon.  Pads were gone.  New ones were required.

The next day I went to Carraige Motors and spoke to the Store Manager regardin my belief that his mechanic had replaced my New Expensive Rotors and Brake Pads with cheap unsafe ones.  I told him there was only three possible places this could have occurred.  (1)  My Locked Garage in the Middle of the night.  (2) In the parking lot where my wife works between the hours of 0800-1600.  (3) Or, at Carraige Motors.  The response by the Manager was that he could not help me because they were currently in transition between Owners.  He Also said "It would not surprise me, we have had alot of tools stole from here".

After being ignored for more than 3 weeks they finally referred me to the service manger who called me a Liar and was abusive.

Here is the kicker.

1) Store Manager told me "It would not surprise me, we have had alot of tools stole from here."

2)  I spend on average $2000.00 in parts and service in Carraige Motors every year.

3)  And here is the Big one.  All I asked them to do was re-imburse me $350.00 for parts and labor.

I have since found a honest mechanic.

I know this rebutal might be irrelevant since carriage motors is no longer in business. But when i read this report i felt
the need to defend the late owners name as well as clearing the names and reputations of the technicians with whom i
respected and worked with for such a long time from such an ubsubstantiated claim. I want to start by saying that I used to work in the service department as well as in the business office of carriage motor company at their gmc location as well as at the hyundai / mitsubishi store, but mostly at GMC. I have also worked in the automotive service industry for over 13 years so i do have knowledge and experience in what im about to say. First and foremost i have never met a technician that will waste their preciouse time to remove parts from a vehicle, especially ones in an area they are not currently working in just out of spite. What would be the point? Just some education as to how the automotive industry opperates. Technicians are not paid by the hour like most jobs are. They are paid flag time, which means they get paid per job they are contracted to perform. Its not even how long it actually takes them to do the job, they are paid based on what the labor time regulates for that job. If it physically takes them .9 hours to do a job but the book only allows .5 hours for that job they only get paid for .5 hours meaning they just lost money on a job they were asigned to. So since techs are not paid by the hour and only by job, why would they lose money by wasting their time just to rack your car, remove your tires, to access your brakes and rotors, just to remove them uneccessarily and replace them with what? Where do you suspect they got theses said " cheap brakes"? Their parts department only carries factory parts, which regardless of how much you paid for your expensive brake pads and rotors, would still be better quality and more appropriate for your specific vehicle. It would also be impossible for them to order them from an outside company and get away with it due to the way their accounting works, it is tightly regulated and monitored. So the reality of your situation is more likely that yes you purchased the most expensive pads, but that doesnt automaticaly mean you got the best quality pad for your SUV. If you purchased a non HD pad for such a large vehicle they will deffinately wear faster than the pads and rotors you would of purchased from gmc especially since they would of installed the propper pads for your specific vehicle. Not to be rude, but how many brake jobs have you done? Also finger prints and grease on the pads and rotors can cause hot spots and uneven wear. My concern with your claim and the reason for my rebutal is that instead of thinking it through and actually weighing in the facts it seems you just blamed someone else because you were upset because the expensive pads you purchased wore faster than you had expected. What should of transpired is your complaint should have been dirrected at the establishment who sold you the brake components instead of slandering the repair shop you willingly took your vehicle to for repairs. Also there is no way a tech could of got away with such a bogus acusation due to the fact that to remove your brakes it is necessary to put the vehicle on a rack and that is not necessary to do so for a hood latch. It would have been noticed also due to the time factor and the company losing money. So your claim automatically automatically
